Question Painting

My car was in a nasty storm and have some light scratches all over the car from debris hitting it. What is good shop to take my 2002 TL-S this into and what should I look for from the shop to make sure they'll do a quality job. I live in Brooklyn Park, MN.

Also who/what determines if the car is repainted or just buffed to remove the scratches.

probably any body shop will do a good job, and the body shop will know if you need to repaint or just buffer them out

Like meldys26 said. any decent body shop will do a good job. and as for scratches and wether they can be buffed out or not id determined by how deap and wether they went thru the clear and into the paint and to metal. a good shop will determine that.

I guess I was hoping to have the car repainted as long as the it'll look like factory finish when done.

why do so many people worry about it looking like factory finish? Isnt the the job of a body shop? most all do. Yes there are some cut corners shady ones but most arent.. Bring your car around to a few of them, get estimates, Ask to see some of their finished work

I'm going to a place where my insurance recommended so I'm worried that they'll do it the way the insurance wants (cheapest way) instead of the best way for the customer. Again I would prefer to get the car repainted but worry they'll just try to buff the paint.

Dont do that. Go to where YOU want. You have teh right to go where YOU want. find teh place you want to go and tell your insurance co where you want teh car to go!

remember though some places that your insurance company sends you to ----- have a lifetime warrantee on any job they do through insurance ( well progressive does anyway) so if you dont like it they have to re-due it. my understanding anyway.
