Paint discoloration, help plz

I found some nasty gooey stuff on the hood this morning. It looks as if it was tar, oil or some nasty **** which was kinda hard to remove. After I removed it, it appears tha paint in that spot is lighter than the rest of the hood. There was already a coat of wax on the car but i guess that didn't help. It was probably sitting there for a day and I didn't see it... argh!!! What should I do?

Have you been parking under a tree? It sounds like sap! Some types of trees leak sap during certian times of the year. It will mess your finish quick.

are you driving through areas where they are repaving the roads? I kicked up a lot of tar even though i have the mudflaps on my car and it was a pain in the ass to clean off.
On a similar note, I think my dealer used old engine old to give my tires the "wet look" when i bought it. Well that $hit just splattered all over my wheel wells when i drove it home and stained some of my paint. Oh well, most of it is inside the wheel well, and I can't prove they did anything wrong so I'm outta luck

Nope, no repaving roads. It ended up being bout 4 inches by 1/4 inch down to the grill on the hood practically dead center. This is driving me nuts, I only had the car for 7wks and i get my rear bumper kinda scrapped by an old lady and now this.
