Unhappy Paint Chips

So my new TL's only a couple of weeks old, and this weekend I got a serious paint chip right under the door handle of the driver's side rear door. Besides being insanely annoying because I see it every single time I get in the car, I know I should fix it to keep the paint from chipping any more than it already has.

I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to get touch-up paint for it, but does anyone recommend that I do something special with it? Does anyone know how I can make it look like nothing ever happened there? I figure one of my friends had a ring on their finger and that's what did it. Anyway, I know I'm going to get more scratches and stuff, but it's annoying as heck.

Thanks.

Have you tried going to your insurance company to get a claim? Don't know how much your deductible is, but it's worth looking into. Don't really recommend touch up paint as you will never get that silky smooth look like new paint.

On the other hand, I do believe someone on this site mentioning about using touch up paint, letting it dry, and then cut polish. The results were said to be as good as a new paint job. Do a search and see if you find anything.

Thanks

Thanks for your help. I'll look into it. I'm just worried because it's a relatively large CHIP in the paint and not just a scratch. I'm pretty sure it went clear through the coat and the paint and I'm seeing the metal. I don't want it to oxidize and start peeling up the paint around that area. Anyway, again, thanks for the help.
