Overhead Grab Handle Mod Question

In all the threads here on modding, I don't think I've ever seen one on the overhead grab handles. Is ther a mod to make the retract LIKE EVERY OTHER CAR IN THE WORLD has. There is nothing sorrier in the world then seeing a cool TL driving down the road with the handle(s) hanging down. Every one else uses retracting springs or fixed handles, but not Acura. At least on this Gen of the car.

You mean so they spring up by themselves after you let go? I thought it was a nice feature that they'd stay down until you popped them back up.

Feels like there is a catch when the handle is pulled into the down position. Take it apart and check it out. I have a feeling it's a little nub that sticks out on the handle that clicks into the mount when it's down. A little work with a Dremel and you should be good to go. I'll go out and check at lunch if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Me too; I always reach over my passengers and fold them back up - drives me nuts seeing it in the corner of my eye.

ya my dad constantly leaves his handle down. I find myself on a daily basis reaching to the right of me, to my 4 o'clock and right behind me to fold the handles back up. I hate when ppl leave them down. Luckily at night, with tints, people can't see in, so it makes no difference whether they're up or not.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my pet pieve! I too have a friend who knows it bothers me and leaves it down on purpose! :shit:
WHAT WAS ACURA THINKING?!?!?!
I know they weren't thinking, "Now how do we make a transmission that can last for years and years?" That would be toooo easy!

Same here. What pisses me off the most is when someone leaves it down in the passenger side rear seat. I actually get out of the car to put it back up. It bothers me to no end to see any of them hanging down.

Hehe, this actually reminds me of my friend's S500 and how it has a switch on the dash to retract the 3 rear seat headrests if the rear passengers put them up while they were sitting there. We should just put a switch on the dash to retract all the grab handles....that'll be awesome. Tell me what you think lol

Well my car is in the shop again. But this time I got a TSX loaner (Way to go Santa Monica Acura!). One of the first things I noticed is the grab handles retract! Can a set of these be mounted on a TL? Has anyone done this?
