Over-revved in SS mode

Merging on the highway and my my fuel cutoff activated for about two seconds since I inadvertanly went over the 6k redline. This didn't do any damage to my car did it? I mean, that feature is there to prevent damage correct. It seems to have run fine since, and I just want some reassurance that everything is ok.

Your fine. The automatic tranny should have shifted to the next gear, but the entire point of fuel cutoff is so you don't blow your engine.

The only time I can think of that you can do damage is if you have a manual and go from near redline in a high gear (like 5) to a low gear like 2nd.

that is too funny, i did the exact same thing, and i really don't mean to scare you i am just going to tell you what happened to my car, after i did that a couple of times or so, i noticed that when i am in normal auto mode and i punch it, the gears would slip from 2nd to 3rd when it approached redline, it did this for about 1 month or so, then my entire tranny went!!

so beware!
