Angry Ouch

I was driving down I-84 in Cheshire, CT last week when I hit the mother of all potholes in the left hand lane at 75mph.

Steering wheel immediately felt bad, I pulled over thinking a flat tire, but all looked well - but massive vibration in the steering wheel.

Limped back to Hartford and to an Acura dealer at 50-55mph.

Verdict: Two bent rims on the driver side, steel belts in the tires are all messed up. The dealer said he was amazed the tires didn't blow out since the inner lip on the driver front was gone.

$600 for a new set of Moda M1 rims (Acura wanted $600 just for two!) and $600 for a new set of Dunlops.

OUCH.

Cant you sue the city for something like this? I would definately go to city hall and take pictures of the pothole and hand them the bill.

don't know how bad your rims are. try to see if it's fixable or u can save a big bug. i believe that it's worth to find if there's rims repair shop around your area. it happened to me not long ago & the dealer said the rims are so bad. but it turned around i went to a rims repair shop for only $75 fixed clean & clear.

Latest update... I have a new set of Dunlops on new Moda rims, all better - but $1,200 poorer.

I did file a claim with the state DOT and much to my surprise, they had an insurance company contact me and ask for copies of my receipts.

The insurance company said it may take a while to investigate, and that they may only pay a percentage, but if my claim is valid I may in fact get some cash from the state!
