optima battery

I was thinking of replacing the battery in my 2003 tl-s with nav. Has anyone installed one of those optima batteries that look like a six pack? If so, which one as I noticed Sears has two versions. Also, does this battery interfere with a Comptech Ice box due to size, etc?

what's the difference... is it better to have an aftermarket battery? i mean i have 2 12" running at 400w rms...would having an after market battery help? or should i just get a capacitor.

Both if you can....I have quite a bit of power in my system, and I get some light dimming sometimes. Even with my capacitor. The best upgrade would be a high output alternator. That is next in line...when I get an extra 300 bones.

I have been told that if you get a separate battery for your system it would help alot, but it also puts alot of strain on your stock alternator to charge two batteries...so get a capacitor first...if you have more money upgrade your battery second...and if you have even more money, get a new HO alternator and you will be set for nearly any system.

I originally wanted a yellow top, but Costco only carried the red. There was no listing for our cars, but the red top fits fine with the plastic spacer that comes with the battery. So far so good. You just can't use the original top battery cover.

You can also try the Exide Orbital Select...
Same type AGM battery, I put one in my T/A and it fit/works great.
You can get them online cheaper than the Optima and may fit the TL better....

unless you have a really big stereo, just get the red. you dont need a deap cycle. plus the red has a better CCA.

I agree with OU Sig. Get all three if you want to run a powerful system, just to be on the safe side. You dont want your car to die on you. And I heard that you only need 1 farad capacitor for every 1000 watt. Anything way below shouldn't need a cap. Just a battery should do.

The deep cycle battery is for things like trolling motors and 12v lights for boats. They're intended for low draw, long duration use. The non-deep cycles are for giving large amounts of energy over a short period of time (starting the motor).

When you notice a difference in your cranking abilities (usually you can hear this). If you are unlucky enough, one day you just wont be able to crank the car over.
