Talking OMG......I love my CAI.

I can't believe the difference. I have always felt 1st gear was sluggish, but now I can feel the engine is breathing better and is so much more smoother. It was a pain to install, though with my 99. I had to bypass the mini-radiator in the filter box and relocate the cheesy alarm horn. I put it on half way Thursday (short ram) first, then completed the installation Friday.

The car is so quiet when driving normally, but what a sleeper. The sound is so gratifying. Now when I dust someone, they can use their hearing senses as well as their seeing.

WOW! Looks great, excellent pictures!

Does it make the car louder when you are just "normal" driving, or only when you tromp on it??

Congrats!

Adam,
Does the bottom section have a bracket to hold it steady? I have one of the earlier ones made for the Accord, no bottom bracket and I just noticed today that it has worn a hole clear through the back of the lower section. I'll have to convert to short ram tommorow and order a new intake.

actually just to give guys a lil info the newer cais, it comes with that extended metal piece on pipe that goes into the bumper what did you guys do to it?
i placed a rubber plug from the resonator box(the big black box the rubber piece looks just like the one that aem sent but without screws on it)
use that to mount behind the headlight, theres a couple of holes there just use one of them...

make sure the lower section isnt rubbing any metal

test your alarm horn, it wont work. you know that bracket that was under it? you NEED in place to make the horn sound properly. just put it under the horn

Actually, the alarm horn works fine. Still beeps.

The new CAI's mount to a hole behind the head light. The instructions even say there could be a wire loom on some models, which includes the TL, so just remove it and use that hole. They supply you with a rubber bushing with threaded bolts on each side. I just put it through, tightened it underneath and then attached the bracket to the top.

Looks nice Adam. Did you use the factory touch up paint on the battery cover and the valve cover?

Great install. I think I have seen the CAI in a red, are you planning to paint in as well? Your whole engine compartment looks tight with the paint job.

Tires come in on Wed. so they will be mounted but I am going to put them on the car myself probably Thursday.

    BlackTL2k:
I was thinking of red before, but after I painted the components to match my car, I saw the red CAI is anodized and wouldn't match. So I flipped the color scheme.

how/where did you mount the lower part of the cai? did you have to cut it? I have my aem plus bypass installed just like yours in the picture but can't find a place to mount the lower half. AEM tech said the correct way is to cut the upper pipe and install the bypass valve there.

There is a hole holding a wire loom right behind the head light. Remove the loom and use that hole. The instructions mention it too. I put the valve between the two pipes, like other members, but you may have to bend the arm on the lower pipe slightly to get it to the hole.

Cutting is the best way but not necessary in our car.
