Well thats about all the car is worth. A total on your insurance at your age is going to hurt you big time for the next 5 years.

With all do respect, its likely 6K in damage. It's ALWAYS more than it appears.

We had a small fender bender, just a bumper, rim, suspension and when it was all said and done $3500 + car rental.

Then I had a guy pull out in front of my and hit him at 5-10mph. We thought it was just cosmetic $1800 latter, new bumper, paint and a frame pulling + car rental.

Acura is likely quoting with new parts which is what you want.

Either way, kids likely not driving much after this.

Yea that is true it always happens like that once they get the car and start taking it apart and what not they find more damage. Yea but I dont understand why you would take the car to the Acura dealership why not take it to a actual body shop that will probably be cheaper know what I mean.

if the cost of repairs is more than current market value, not blue book, its totalled. but then you have the option of buying the car back from insurance company with a salvage title. then fix it up and get liability. or part it our for even more cash. did that with a formula i wrecked.

Thumbs up Update

just received a preliminary encurance estimate. comes out to about $4k w/o damages to left-side pillar. fortunately my deductible is only $250. she'll be back on the road by the end of the month

fyi, make sure that the body shop is using oem parts and not aftermarket. most times i'd say it doesnt matter, but sometimes there are fitment problems and stuff doesnt line up right.

only $250?!? thats a low deduct.

If that's what happens at these things....I'm sorry but I would have to 'miss out'. Sorry, I just hate racing/driving fast for no reason.

Hi Tay :

To follow on what some other have said...MAKE SURE YOU DEMAND GENUINE ACURA ONLY PARTS ! There's a whole "underground" business out there making cheap knock off parts (Chinese ?) which most body shops have access to. You won't know it until a few years go by and the sub-standard parts will break or rust out.

You have the right to demand Acura parts through the insurance adjuster even if he says no, keep pushing and don't take no for an answer.

smartypants.

I'm curious, if the air bags deployed in this accident? you didn't hit anything head on, but it was a good collision to maybe cause an air bag deployed...

Hey Tom, I dont think his parents are going to care what a "meet" is lol They'll probably not let his dumbass drive since he thought he was speed racer in the middle of a midwest winter...(bet its his first time driving in the winter too)

thanks for the advice. i'll have to double check, but i'm pretty sure they are going to be remanufactured OEM parts or somehting of that nature.

So you're able to keep the car between the tree and building but not between the lines on the road?
