will depend some on your tires, but, if its only a 42 offset...good chance you will rub. Go to this link and use the calculator and it will tell you how much your wheel offset will change dimensions. Im investigating 18"/7.5 wheels with 235/40 tires and wouldnt consider the combination with anything less than a 48mm offset wheel. 50mm would be even better.

Well I have 18x8's with a +43 offset with coilovers and they dont rub. It is very close to the fender lip though and has the tiniest bit of clearance. I did have to cut the little bumper tabs though. Not a big issue

You guys are forgetting something very important... its not so much the rim and offset, but the TIRES you put on those rims and how much your car is DROPPED.
I have a +48 offset with a 17x7.5" rim with 225/45 tires on an Eibach Pro-Kit drop. I have rubbed a small number of times on the driver side rear tire sidewall when I had friends riding in the back and I made turns into parking lots where it dips down as you are turning. Another friend of mine has the exact same rims and springs as I have, but with 215/50 tires and has never rubbed.
My tire has only rubbed at the sidewall on the fender lip. Evidently my passenger side rear tire has a smidge more negative camber so it doesn't rub at all.
Hope this helps

cutting it kinda close with a 42 offset, depends on your tires, but i think it'll be alright with a 42 on a 7.5" width
