Bitium - what about us 99 guys? I remember from the original discussions that a RES for the 99TL would fit on the v6 accord. Wouldn't it be much easier to get presells for that model?

Hey if they get it to work for the j30 engine for the 3.0 CL 97-99 I will get it too. I am sure the rest of the 1st gen CL'ers will be in too.

I was supposed to try out one of the first units made, but that never happened. If it ever does come out, I still want it.

Question

Did Doug ever come up with RES version for the 3.0 v6? Probably not. The one for the 3.2's aren't out yet..

No, there is not 3.0 version yet, which is the same version of the 3.2 99 TL.

A memeber from Acura-cl.com suggested this:

Side note....................
I think a deposit of say 100-dollars would generate MORE interest.
That’s enough to get the ball rolling on the development, but you’re not putting the whole enchilada out all at once.

Plus, people would be less likely to back out after signing up if they stood to loose 100-clams.
I’m guessing at least HALF of the people that say YES in this thread will never buy the thing.
It always seems to work out that way.

It doesn't work that way. Is not a commitment. There will be only one run. You are not depositing, you are buying the product in advance, but if the desire amount is not reach, you will get your money back, every cent. There is no risk to the buyer. I don't want to talk to much about the financial issues, until all the details are workout. Once I know for sure the price, how many units, etc, then I will make it official and see if it comes true. I'm working right know on getting a test unit, so we members could tested and have some feedback. We are also planning on filming the installation and the performance gains on the track, also taking pictures. Right know, Tim, Ron, Doug and myself will do this.

Some of you are so funny. You paid about $1k for headers plus installation and you are complaining about the pricing of the RES. It was already dyno, and the gains are better than the headers. Yes it will come with warranty.

I just don't understand

Here is a comparison I did for the TL-P:

The Type S has higher numbers.

It will not blow up your car. There is no mechanical nor electrical parts to this product.

The creator is just a person that use to work for Rick Case Acura/Honda, performance department. His name is Doug, good friend of some members. He was also the Service Director at both locations. I'm not sure who is the acutal manufacturer that is producing the units, I will post as soon as I find out.

The headers for me were because I have always wanted to run stainless steel exhaust all the way out on a car, normally I wouldn't spend $1100 for 32 HP any more than I would spend the ridiculous price for a supercharger.

Like you said it doesn't have any electronics or moving parts so, to take a overly simplistic view, thats expensive for a little square piece of metal. Of course I realize that there is R&D, testing, etc, etc and materials are the smallest portion of the cost. But when you look at what you get, the reaction is why should it cost so much...(of course see the preceding sentences).

By dyno I was indicating the final production version matches that which has already been provided.

bricot,
Well, your sig doesn't list a CAI but people payed abotu $200 for that so...... Considering the market price of HP for the CL the RES seems good.

So you are saying that you would have gotten the headers even if they produce 2 hp, because they are stainless steel, give me a break. The headers just like the RES does not have any mechanical parts not electrical, so how do you justify $1200???? 32hp??? I guess, but not in your situation. Listen if you don't want it, then don't buy it.

So what's the deal?????????????????? I hope doug sees this stuff and realizes that there is substantial interest. Get those cars to dynos, video tape and get the tape on this website!!!!!

I think that demonstration of the product will do alot in terms of consumer interest

No because they are two completely different engines. I'm sure if you get a number of members from the RSX boards to say they'd be interested in a RES then maybe Doug could whip-up a prototype.
