OEM Stereo made by... ???
OK, this may seem like a blatently obvious question, but just humor me for a minute...
What company manufactures our OEM stereo?
Mainly the factory head unit... but are the other components (speakers, sub, EQ, & amp) made by the same comapny as well?
Let me get some answers/feedback/opinions and I'll explain where I'm going with this...

I thought it was Bose too but the answer maybe supprise for most of people:
"Acura: ELS DVD-A Surround Sound
Acura recruited Grammy award-winning sound engineer Elliott Scheiner to assist with the first DVD-Audio surround sound system available as standard equipment in a car (2004 Acura TL). At a Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress in Detroit last March, this system "blew away the competition," in a surround sound challenge, according to news reports. The system's six-discrete channels are tuned specifically for the TL. The Panasonic system consists of eight speakers, a 225-watt, six-channel amplifier, and an in-dash, six-disc changer creating a sound comparable to the master tapes from a studio session. Main drawback? Not a lot of titles on DVD-A yet, although it will play CDs. The Acura TL starts at $40,800."

Pretty sure its pioneer. I remember seeing a pioneer label on the head unit when I swapped it out. I was looking at the head unti for a while because I had to just bash the thing apart to get the CDs that were in there out. As far as the speakers they have no label on them at all just stamped numbers. To me they appear to be some random offshore 2 dollar paper speakers that acura got a great deal on. Probably made in some random chinese factory. Bose simply tunes the systems to get the best sound out of the stuff OEM puts in.

I pulled my OEM stereo out to install my new HU and the manufacturing stickers say friggin "Pioneer Corporation" on it.
How can a stereo system made by Pioneer be a Bose system?!?!?
I can tune a stereo and set EQ curves myself... does that mean I can slap my name all over them making them mine? Yeah right!!
At least Bose takes credit for the systems they design for autos.
Check thier website... No Acura TL anywhere to be found!
Genuine Bose car systems are acutally pretyy good, if they are in fact designed, manufactured and tuned by Bose.
But like fsttyms1 said, this Bose just Bloz!!
(BTW... got my DDX8017 in, but needs a little more modification to look pretty.)

Friggin a. What's next, no Santy Claus? Death, where is thy sting?
Actually, I've been aware for years that many "brands" are made by someone else, or even different levels within a single brand. Good detective work people!

Even our Acura isn't made by Acura -- it's made by Honda. At least it doesn't suck though.
I hear you about the factory stereo, it does blow, but quotes from a local installer were way too high to replace even parts of the system, and I'm disinclined to try to do it myself. For now.
