odometer question
Does anyone know what the standard for odometer accuracy is? My 2000 TL with factory rims and tires with barely 20K miles appears to be reading more than 5% fast, ie 9.5 miles is giving me 10 on the odometer. I first noticed it with the highway mile markers that are posted every 1/4 mile. My 2000 Dodge Ram is virtually perferct with the mile markers. Running the same routes in the two vehicles revealed the potential difference. Has anyone else noticed the same and will or can the dealer check the accuracy and adjust the way logic that adds miles to the odometer? This is one way the factory can run your warranty out faster. I want it accurate. It will only get worse as the tires wear. HELP!
