Angry Odd tire wear....

I need some opinions. I am getting some odd tire wear on the inner portion of my tires. It started out as a slight "wobble" and a "warped" whinning sound. The tires are only about 3 months old, and I have had Comptech springs add also. I did have the car realigned last month after the springs had been on there about a month and a half. I have also had the tries rotated regularly.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Thumbs down

I had my alignment checked again this morning, and it is still within specs. The tire dealership said that the wider tires are what is causing the wear on the inside.

Does anyone else with 225/55 size tires have any problems with the insides wearing?

It's not rubbing. It is making a sort of wave or cupping on the inner tread of the all the tires?!?

Could you take a picture of both front tires and post it up so we can see what you are talking about?

It is not something you can really see, but if you run your hand along the tires you can feel it. It goes up and down almost like a roller coaster on a small scale.

Just a thought - not an expert - but don't you have to modify the offset specs when you widen a tire - ie - instead of x degrees - you might have to go to x+y degrees? I remember having to do something like this in the old days. I think because of the lowering and wider tires normal specs would not cut it. Who is doing your alignment? maybe a sport shop will be better to assit you? Just some thoughts - not an expert.

If it is what you described, up and down like a rollercoaster. Your rims/tires, my friend, aren't balanced correctly. If your rims/tires aren't balanced, it will wear unevenly in spots.

What you descibe sounds like typical "high speed cornering-type" tire wear. This is possible?

If you read your manual, it will even tell you if your tire is worn unevenly like what TITAL3.2TL had described, it states it is caused by unbalanced wheel/tire.
