OBX flex pipe crack

What's up guys. Have any of you who have obx headers have there flex pipe crack. Just wondering cause the other day my wife took my car to the store and when she got back it sounded like a gasket was blown or she hit something and cracked the piping. So i automatically started the question's on her but tool it to a muffler shop and found out that the flex pipe inside had a crack all the way around.

obx's headers have terrible welding. They have cracked on many people. Just have the dude weld it back on.

The flex pipe cracked on the inside. I had to have it replaced.

go with a magnaflow unit. I had one replaced on my old car and used magnaflow. It was a solid unti throughout 3 ny winters.

I bought a Comptech header, because I didn't want to go thru the stuff people who bought OBX headers are going thru. My buddy had his rewelded twice within a year. The Comptech is pricy, but I guess less headaches, for now.

You would have to let the headers heat up and break in before reinforcing the welds.

Yes that is a good idea. As far as the suggestion to install them and remove after a heat up, that makes no sense.

They don't heat them up where they produce them - why would you have to heat them up before reinforcing the welds?

(BTW - I'm a cracked/fixed weld OBX owner... but it took two years or so to crack.)

FLA-TLS where did you go to reinforce the welds? My OBX's have a hairline crack on the front center pipe. Was thinking about taking them off an taking them to like a meineke or midas type place.

I went to a shop that's done other work on my car. You have to watch those Midas type shops because they won't give you a fixed quote. They'll give you an hourly rate.

Go to a shop you trust. If you don't have a relationship with a shop, make sure you get a fixed quote in writing.

Putting a new weld on top of an existing one is a bad idea. Trust me, when i got my obx i asked 3 shops and two pro metal guys. They all said let the pipes heat and settle. All you will do with welding on top of them is loosen the current welds by applying it to the area.

Little off topic but do you still have the rotors? I might pick them up off of you.
