Now I'm confused about what CAI to get

is AEM any good? If I install this in replacement of my stock airbox, will I notice any difference in power? will I hear it when I hit VTEC? what's the sound like when you drive normally (not surpassing 3k RPM?)

thanks guyz

btw should I throw in the K&N air filter with this as well, or is there no point?

I have had the AEM CAI for over 2 years now and no problems at all. You will notice how heavy the stock airbox is when you remove it.

As far as power, you can definitely feel it when VTEC kicks in. Oh and the sound of a CAI when VTEC hits is just orgasmic.:wow: But anything below vtec, you will not notice the cai. I have the K&N air filter too.

is there any place to hear the TL the way it sounds when VTEC kicks in and the CAI is working?

I have the same blue AEM CAI as Binh, but I didn't not want to use the bypass which he has. During the rainy season I use the upper portion as a short ram and CAI during the rest.

AEM CAI comes with a cone filter which is basically a rename K&N cone filter. As far as feeling the power, most people will think that because of the added sound, but couple of horses on a heavy ass sedan isn't going to be felt. Below 3k it sounds stock with a little hiss. As soon as you hit VTEC you will hear it. When I use the CAI as a Short Ram Intake, the sounds nearly double and even those rice civics hear it and get the heck out of my way. Buy Injen or AEM. They as basically the same, I hear Injen is cheaper.

still confused guys. What should I get? I want something with very little to no maintenance, and something that stays in all year round. What's the advantage of getting a short ram intake? well first i need to know, what the hell is a short ram intake? what's the difference between that and a CAI?

can someone suggest something to me? I just want a good air filter, probably a K&N, and a really nice CAI which sucks more air into the throttle body. That's it, and don't forget the "orgasmic noise" during VTEC range.

thanks boyz.

can someone PM me with their phone number so I can discuss this over the phone with someone knowledgeable? I will incur all long distance charges, so don't worry about it.

thanks again.

Dude, trust me, AEM or INJEN CAI will sound better then those home made CAI you hear. Buy either or, this is a no brainer.

btw CAI is always working, even when the Engine is not in VTEC

does K&N make an CAI that I can buy which includes the filter as well? I'm assuming if they do it would be relatively well priced since you're buying both. Is the K&N filter a cone shaped also? does the AEM/injen tubing go from the K&N air filter into the throttle body?

anyone got pics of their setup?

thanks

sorry for being sooo damn ignorant, I just wanna make sure I do this the right way.

I believe I have a similar question. While I think I will go the CT Icebox route, is a K&N filter also helpful? Or just overkill? Or will the K&N used with an icebox restrict air flow? Thanks

If you get AEM CAI, basically you get a rebadged K&N Cone filter SO DON'T GO BUYING A K&N FILTER. If you get a CT Icebox, it comes with foam filter, while the filter is superior filtering, its a pain to clean cuz it's recommend that you clean it every oil change and its $13 for a one time use cleaning kit. So my friend has his CT foam filter replaced with a K&N filter. He just changed it because it's easier cleaning.

exactly! the AEM CAI comes with a K&N filter. dont buy a K&N filter to add to the CAI! the Ice Box comes with a foam filter like said above is better its harder to clean. the AEM is harder to get to to clean, but you dont have to clean it as often. the CT ice box is easy to get to but more of a pain to clean(not much)bit harder.either route is a good one. ive run the AEM CAI in weather like yours sc354 and you will be ok with it. i clean mine every 6 months (about 30-35k for me) and its in good shape every time i do!

If you want easy maintainence, then you'd not consider CAI. With CAI you need to remove the bumper to clean the filter. SR on the other hand is easier to clean. CT Icebox filter is also easy to get to.

if you live in a place where rain happens once annually, then don't bother with the bypass valve as it reduces the amount of HP that the CAI will provide you. However if you live in Canada (Toronto) like me where the weather is very unpredictable, then I suggest getting the bypass valve.

I'm looking at getting the V2 and I was wondering if the bypass is an addition or does it come w/ it. How much and where can I get it for.
