"not an ashtray"

damn it. i put change in that little tray thing in front of the shifter, and my coins fell into there. i cant close or open my the tray anymore. its stuck halfway. any suggestions on how to take that tray out so i could get the coins out?

and where can i get the 02-03 coin holders that they have above their cd players? since 99-01tl's have those useless CD holders instead... its really annoying since there's no where else to put my change.

yeah maannn its so freakin annoying! i used everything i could find around the house to see if i can get it out.. i tried long screwdrivers, chopsticks, magnets.. i got a few quarters, but no other coins can be magnetized. i started yanking at the tray too. damn thing is so stubborn, cant even be pulled out. my friend suggested taking the whole panel off. the wood trim on the sides and basicly stripping down at the center console piece by piece.. but that sounds like too much work.. damn coins! instead of reading just "not an ashtray", it should also say "not a coin tray"

ok, before you go removing your whole middle console, on the driver side, remove the side trim of the console, this will give you access to the left side of the coin tray, wiggle the tray around, and with a flashlight you will see your villain

good luck

whats sweet is that Illinois is pretty much requiring everyone to get I-PASS or else

non-users have to pay double the regular amount. This is great since I will not need

any coins except for those in my cupholders.

That's nothing... The area just forward of the shifter, I popped off the cover with like 20 pennies still in there, and about 10 of them fell in.

Every time I shifted, I heard pennies moving around. Then it didn't happen again. I figure they are all probably sitting at the bottom of wherever the hell they are sitting. I was so paranoid that the pennies would get stuck in the shifter. :o

I brougth mine to a buddy in the car audio installation business. He installed the blitzsafe and, without any request from me, put all coins in a little Kenwood water cup...all free of charge. Coin holder is fine now.
