Unhappy No windshield washer fluid warning indicator

I know I'm just being picky... but did you know that there's no low windshield washer fluid indicator in our cars? The funny thing is... it's in the Canadian version of the car only! Seems like a pretty minor thing to just leave off of a car.

Consider yourself duly warned. I discovered that I was out on my way home in the snow and slush tonight. No, it wasn't fun. I guess I ass-umed that my dealer topped off my fluids when I took the car in for my regular oil change. Silly me!

The Canadian TL's also have a bigger windshield washer reservoir. You'd think it would cost Acura more to build a car with two different feature sets than just putting it in all of them. Sigh.

It's not a question of easy or hard. It all come down to cost. Adding the warning light would involve addition of the fluid level sensor, extra wiring, and extra light bulb. Anyone working in the manufacturing businesses can tell you that any extra cents spent in the material cost will triggle down to become extra dollars in the retail price, and extra dollars become extra hundreds of dollars, due to the profit markups in different levels of suppliers, installers and manufacturer. In addition, the warning light circuit would also introduce an additional potential point of failure (such as bulb or sensor failures), and this would eventually slap Honda back in the face in terms of warranty repair cost.

It is weird that our TLs (Canadian), only have the windshield low warning light. I would say places like Buffalo, Boston and Detroit see worse winters than many Canadians. Perhaps its a Canadian requirement now?
