No Side Mirrors on 2004
Overhead from a golfer this weekend who happens to be the Southeastern Infiniti rep...
"You know why the '04 TL doesn't have any side mirrors? It doesn't need them... it will always be looking at the @ss of a G35 and 95% of all other cars on the road!"
How harsh, but it scares the crap out of me upon learning Acura will not make a Type S in 2004.

who said it won't have side mirrors? The pic was just a concept 04, I seriously doubt it will be in production. And he works for infiniti, who cares what he thinks. And lets just wait to see how much power the 04 has before we judge if we need a Type S.

I don't see how it couldn't have side mirrors, but is it a gov't reg? Remember the trucks without bumpers? Also I recall some of the earlier Honda models in which the right side mirror was optional.
I think the reg simply states that all vehicles must have the capability to see objects in the rear... The one inside would do the trick.
Maybe they have a system to "sense" close objects in the rear and then virtually project them. It would eliminate all blind spots.
Or more likely, Acura didn't have time to finish the mirrors before the show.

Remember, that car is only a concept. Of course any regular production vehicles will have side mirrors, at least for now.

I thought concept cars were typically designed as 5 years or more in the future. I've never heard of the unveiling of a concept car the year it is suppose to go into production.

Most concept cars don't even make it to production. If they do they don't look the same when they hit production.

Fact: Federal Govt requires driver-side side mirror and rear view mirror. Federal Covt does not require passenger-side side mirror. You can still see some inexpensive cars w/o passenger-side side mirrors. In the late 80's and early 90's most of our honda's DX models only have the driver side mirror.
The 2004 TL will have a side mirror. it is mandated by law. When you are showing a concept car, you don't need to comply but when the rubber hits the road, the manufacturer will have to comply.

no, I think they are camera there instead of side mirrors. Honda wouldn't leave something out just cuz it was in a hurry and its not that hard to slap on some side mirrors.

Isn't This car supposed to be at New York International Auto Show this Friday?
If so will it be the concept or the actual production car?
I am looking to preorder this car and leave a deposit for it for October, but I dont want to be dissappointed when after I get a TL 3 months later a TYPE-S Comes out
So what do you guys think about the Type-S coming out??
I heard a lot of rumours that they might not even have a Type-S At All..
My Wishlist:
Projection HID's
Air Suspension System
Mini Slim Card KEY FOB (LIKE MERCEDES)
Intelligent Laser Cruise Control (SHOULD HAVE FOR SURE)
Rear View Camera
Motorized Trunk That opens by itself or something..
Big Wheels
Smooth Ride and Wonderful Handling
Voice Activated Navi (THATS ASSUMED)
O YA AND BETTER BRAKES!!!
NO TRANNY PROBLEMS
AND NOT TOO BEEFY! Like the new Accord or TSX.
I got a question what is better for Racing? RWD, FWD, or AWD??

Acura would be foolish not to have a Type S model right from the start. When they first introduced the Type S in 2002, they only predicted they would make up 20-30% of the units sold. I believe the actual proportion of Type S's to TL-P's is much higher than that.
People want power - and in Acura's case - fuel economy as well.

Now that's not a bad idea... and if it was to go that way, man I can't wait for all that HP...
