No K & N filter!!!
Hi Im new to this forum, well kind of, ive been here for about 2 months but never posted anything. It took me that long to read up all the valuble information. Anyways, I have been looking for a K & N filter for the 2002 TL-S that I just bought and i cant find them, i went to Kragen auto parts and the guy who was working there was a complete dumb a$$! can anyone help me out.
Oh ya! one more question, i want to get everyones opinon on whether i should get comptech springs or eibach springs for the TLS. I want to lower it about 1.5-1.75 .
Thanx again.
I dont have pictures for my car but suffice it to say that it looks just like mr.hyde's, body kit and all.

K&N Filter
Go to the K&N website and get the part # for the air filter and order it through Kragen. The K&N should be a few dollars cheaper then the foam Comptech. The foam filter has flaws in its design that the K&N does not, plus it flows more air even after it is dirty compared to the Comptech one. I've used K&N air filters on all my cars. So far as I know, they set the industry standard. Ask for independent dyno tests comparing the Comptech to the K&N and you will get no reply from them. You might want to look into the Weapon R intake system though and compare it with the new K&N intake system. Hope this helps.

Everyone here will tell you Comptech, Comptech, Comptech. Nothing wrong with that. Just got Eibach Pro-Kit on my 02 TL-S and couldn't be more happy. Comptech does know Acura. Eibach definitely knows suspension. 2.1 in the front and 1.7 in the back. Hardly a change in ride comfort. Hope this helps.

Intakes
I am using a K&N filter for now until I see better results from the other intake systems. I am more impressed by hard data such as a dyno test on a Type S---per my request, I have yet to hear from the Weapon-R (sales team)about a dyno test. I think it wise to basically cut each manufacturer's claim in half to get a more realistic sense of the kind of hp figures one will make---it does not really add up to what they claim. I have a background in academic research and nothing is more effective than using a control intake(or baseline measure) and comparing them against the another intake using a dyno. I would like to see (intake companies take note) comparisons of the Weapon R, Injen, Aikimoto, K&N F.I.P.K., Comptech's ice box, AEM CAI, and the Injen (anyone else?). Of course each individual's total system is going to be different since there are many variables to consider: such as ambient air temp, condition of the car, any stock obstructions to the intake, and design of the aftermarket intake piping and air filter. It is difficult to base a purchase of an intake based on (variable)subjective reports. (To all manufactures) give me a comparison dyno test using a baseline (stock figure) and your product and, if you really want to convince me, put your product to the test by comparing it on the dyno to the competitor's product. All products are not equal, so put up or shut up. Give me a dyno test!!! For now, I'll stick with the industry standard, tried and true K&N--nothing beats it for filtering out dirt which is what an air filter is supposed to do in the first place. I doubt the sales people of each product will take me up on this. If they do, then it benefits all of us.
Aaron.

Last I spoke to the people at Comptech they told me that they weren't even thinking of making an Icebox for the TL...that was about a month ago.
Are you looking to keep the stock airbox plumbing or switch over to a CAI eventually? If you're planning on switching then I personally wouldn't bother with the drop in replacement just get the AEM CAI (which uses a K&N cone filter) when you've reached your break in period (shouldn't take long, these cars are addictive).
As for the springs...I have to go with the majority and say Comptech. I've got them and absolutely love them! The ride is barely changed and the look is perfect. I don't know much about the Eibach springs but I see it like this...Eibach makes applications for numerous cars...Comptech is limited to Acura/Honda only...it's like having stomach pains and going to see a general practioner or a specialist...chances are the specialist is the better choice (not to say that is always the case).
That's just my two cents.
