If your car fails their "suspension test" then your car will fail. They will also fail you for the white blinkers as well, no doubt about it. Check your PM....

Yes, they pull your car up on this platform where it tests the shock/spring setup on the vehicle. If it doesn't comply with their "specs" they fail the car. Welcome to NJ inspection......

Their "suspension test" allows them to fail your car for "unsafe driving condition". This is an portion of the NJ law that declares unsafe suspension parts as "immediate repairs". #6, 7 and 8 are found by doing this test.

0 13:20-7.6 Immediate Repairs

(a)When the nature of the defect(s)found at a motor vehicle inspection is such as to constitute a hazard to the public safety so as to require immediate repairs to such motor vehicle,such repairs shall be made and the motor vehicle
presented for reinspection within 48 hours.

(b)A defect which constitutes a hazard to the public safety so as to require immediate repairs to a motor vehicle shall include,but not be limited to,the following:

1. A motor vehicle with a rupture in the brake system;
2. A motor vehicle with a service brake pedal that does not stop the motor vehicle when hlly depressed;
3. A motor vehicle on which all headlights are inoperative;
4. A motor vehicle on which all taillights are inoperative;
5. A motor vehicle on which all stoplights are inoperative;
6. A motor vehicle which has excessive looseness in its steering linkage wherein the steering wheel must make a complete revolution before there is a perceptible movement of the wheels;
7. A motor vehicle with a broken ball joint(s),tie rod(s),or pitman arm;
8. A motor vehicle with a broken suspension component wherein such condition interferes with the operation of the motor vehicle;
9. A motor vehicle with an exhaust leak and holes in the passenger compartment which permit exhaust gases to enter the passenger compartment;
10. A motor vehicle with any part of the exhaust system passing through the passenger compartment;
11. A motor vehicle with a fuel leak in any part of the fuel system;
12. A motor vehicle with a component of the he1 system which is in contact with a moving part of the motor vehicle;
13. A motor vehicle with a tire(s)wherein the ply or cord is exposed and delaminating;
14. A motor vehicle with a windshield which is so severely broken or shattered as to substantially impair the driver's vision;or
15. A motor vehicle with window glazing which is damaged so that sharp edges of glass are exposed.

Again, these are considered to be immediate repairs, tint is an entirely different story. You will have 30 days to rip your tint off before having to take it back. If your blinkers are anything other than yellow/red (depending on make/model of car) you also will have 30 days to change the bulb.

He was being a smart ass, lol basically most of the "LAW" dont like "RICERS" because they race, waste gas, cause accidents, and break the law, so they are sneakly doing everything they can do to stop people from modding their cars the way they want so that they can RACE, WASTE GAS, CAUSE ACCIDENTS so on and so forth, i mean dont get me wrong theres alot of people that knwo how to drive and do a damn good job but the ones that messup alot are the ones who, drive up insurance costs, casualties, you know things like that.

But it was a smart ass joke, if you know what i mean.

They aren't worried about what color lenses you have, it's the bulbs that will decide as to whether you pass or fail.

On a side note, the state inspection facilities have no clue as to what's going on with certain types of cars. They tried to put my old Eclipse GSX (all-wheel-drive) on the dyno, until I screamed at him.
