My friend took off his Cat and put straight through piping instead after he got his Hiyamae exhaust for his TL-S.It sounded alot louder after that and he says it goes alot faster too.Is it okay to do this or will it cause problems in the future?

Other than having the check engine light being on all the time...not passing smog...having your car smell like ass...and getting charged with a misdemeanor if you get caught and paying a huge fine? No. I don't see any other problems.

I have heard that the comptech exhaust doesnt give much power because its only axle-back. Is that true? Do cat back exhausts give more hp and torque?

yes its true.. i heard its beacause our stock exhuast is already an effective freeflowing exhuast and that the aftermarket exhuast does not produce much in HP. but the comptechs are built with superiror quality not sum POS metal can so thats why they are a lil on the pricey side.. i donno about the catbacks.

Supposedly the Greddy Evo catback gives 10hp, but that's unverified and also for about $700...I don't htink it's really worth it. But yea, axleback does not produce as much power as what catbacks can, but the stock opening on the Type S is like 2.75. 3inchs is the biggest you want to go because any bigger would cause loss of back pressure thereby decreasing your hp. 3inch and larger is only optimal for forced induction cars.

They are the quietest exhausts EVER! I would love to get my hands on those...but for $1,200 I'll pass.

Wouldnt you want larger than 3 inch piping on a car that puts out as much power as the type s? How large is the piping in the regular TL models?
