well i got my windows tinted with 35% on the foor doors and limo on the back over the dot matrix also. The material they used had some metallic in it. I was getting worried about the navigation after reading the post on this board about it not working. After driving it for a full day, I can say the navi unit is not off one bit. It seems to be working great. I think this is a hit or miss thing with the navi systems and tint. Either you get it working with tint that is metallic.... or not working. Its all about luck.

 

i just got my car back right now, i did 50% all around five windows but didnt tint over the dot matriz due to the navi and antenna. playing it safe i guess. looks darker then i thought it would be because my interior is black.

 

FYI, the navi antenna is not located in the dot matrix area near the top of the rear windshield. It is mounted just below the parcel shelf next to the third brake light near the bottom of the windshield.

So leaving the matrix area untinted will have no effect on GPS reception. What does affect the reception is the amount of metallic particles in your brand of tint.
