New ugraded performance tranny
Last Friday I had an upgraded tranny installed in my car. This particular tranny has limited slip differential, new kevlar clutches, a 3000RPM stall converter and a hydro. shift kit. I've only driven it a couple of days and on Monday(tomorrow) I'll be taking it in for an adjustment/assessment. Initially I can say that it can leave a pretty healthy patch of rubber. So launches could be a bit tricky even. But all in all it runs great!! I love the LSD, it's great to look in the rear view mirror and see the 2 long tire marks behind the car. My previous trans. did not do that.
I plan to go to the track this Wed. night and see how it performs.
There is a post in the 'Orlando meets' forum. If any one is interested.

To respond to some of the questions:
It is not a totally new tranny but the internals are new. It is still an automatic. The clutches are a kevlar clutch from Raybestos. The shop that put it in is looking at newly developed clutches from Borg Warner which will be a car rafite material. They are supposedly even stronger than the kevlar but as of this install they are not availalbe. They put a new shift kit in so the shifts are sharper. The converter is a custom made-to-order piece from a shop in New Jersey with a 2,900-3,000 stall. The converter has brazed fins(which keeps from self destructing) and it is also anti-balooning. In other words it doesn't swell as you load RPMs to it. The tranny is built to withstand about 500 hp/trq, well beyond what most applications will be. As far as I know all ratios are the same and I believe that it would work even with the 99's. There were no engine or drivetrain mods necessary and no ECU issues as well. The warranty will be 12,000 miles 12 months. The shop that put it together is in partnership with Velocity Resources here in Apopka. It's called 'Ed's quality tranmissions'. Their # is 407-880-3075. Ed can probably explain things better than I can so feel free to contact him. Hope this helps.
