New Transmission Question
New Transmission Question
Just had the transmission replaced on my 03 with 37K on the clock. Bought the car from my neighbor about three weeks ago and found out that the timing belt tensioner recall was never performed. I took it to the dealer for the recall and mentioned that the transmission seemed to slip while shifting from 2nd to 3rd on two occasions, so they said they would check it out. About two hours later they called and said I was approved for a new transmission! My question is: Does the new transmission need the oil jet kit, or is there a new design that doesn't require it?
New design that internally rectifies the issue. My CL S has a transmission installed 12/05 with no oiljet.
I was at the dealer yesterday and verified it is internally cooled.

I hope you have them do the water pump for a few hundred dollars with the timing belt recall- its right behind the timing belt pulley and belt they replace on the recall
Even with low miles but 5 years, its nice to start all fresh and go another 100k miles before the car needs anything. Thats about $800 they are doing for free-
On the trans- drive it gentle to normal first 500- no racing no redline full throttle runs (ok, a few to test it out only)
500-1000 normal to aggressive- get all the metal parts gently meeting each other- then get used to being run all the way up thru the gears while on the power
Test SS mode but avoid downshifts into 3rd and 2nd unless for a purpose of exiting a corner apex on the torque- do that in general when using it
The clutch pack for those gears is still the weak point of the tran
Post 2005 replacement units have the new improved case design with better oil passages and built in 2nd gear oil instead of external
