Talking New TL-S in the Driveway :-)

I had ordered in December and was first on the list. Since yesterday was the release date, I got the call. Black with Parchment. Only made it through the first 107 pages of the owners manual last nite. There is a lot of nice touches in the car.
Price was MSRP but free oil changes for life. No wiggle room.

Oil changes for life?
hmmmm.
you paid like $2,000 more than people will pay in 8 months.
At $35 a pop, that's a little more than 7 years worth of oil changes.
Not too bad but I bet you don't own that car for 7 years.
They should have thrown in that 1st years maintenance for free. Did you ask for that?

What is it with some of you people? The guy just threw 30+ grand at a vehicle he waited for since December, and you're taking jabs at him over msrp? What do you care what he payed..... HE CAN AFFORD IT! I'm flying to Ft. Worth from Houston in the morning to drive one back because there's no silver/nav in town. I'm paying msrp and don't give a #%&*, because I can afford it. Didn't your mom tell ya....If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all!

Congrats!! This is a wonderful car.... I am almost envious, since I drive the older 2000 model... Wish you lots of wonderful driving miles...

COngrats on the TL-S. I know it's worth it to have one of the first. Hey Lawrence, go check what I posted in the other post where you were talking about the comparing the BMW 2 the TL-S!

I posted this elsewhere, but don't get too excited about hitting the dealer up for 1st year maintenance. According to my local Acura shop, it would run me about $290 including the 15,000 mile service.

My lease runs out on my current Maxima in a month, so I can't wait 6 months for the price to hopefully drop. I'll bargain with all 7 dealers in the state (one is a 4 hour drive away!), and get the best price I can. Heck, I'd even consider trying other states nearby.

Does the back seat fold down? I got told that the rear seat folded down in the auto show cars. But, if you read Acura's website, it appears that the rear seat does not fold down.

The pass-through isn't big enough for me -- I've got a bike that I sometimes tote around and don't want to stick a rack on the car.

Yes, I know how to change oil. I generally do most of my own maintenance. Heck, I have a '72 Corvette Roadster with a 454 Big Block that I have spent considerable time working on. Free Oil changes was just a nice perk. The dealer is located right next to a machine shop I use, so it may be convenient to have them do it. And usually my time is worth a heck of a lot more than the $30 per half hour it could take, not counting going to get the filter, oil, cleaning up, proper disposal of the oil, etc. And yes, I can certainly afford the vehicle. Could have bought a load 540, but believed the TL-S represented the best value! The extra performance edge for an extra 20k is hard to justify for daily driving.
