new tl-p owner

Hey guys I just recently purchased an 03 Tl-p NBP and was looking for some suggestions on what I should do the the car. I put on 35% tint all around the car except for the windshield right when I got the car. Im looking to buy some lowering springs and not really sure on how low I should go with the drop. I also want to get a decent pair of 18" ron jon inspyres or a set of the 3rd gen oem wheels. Any suggestions would help..Thanks again in advance

Welcome to the Boards.

There are many DIY mods here. Just check out the DIY section for those. There are cheap mods that you can also do now to immediatel change the look of the car.

IMO just get Function Form coilovers so that you can raise it and lower to the stance that you like most. IMO it is worth it in the end.

Look around for some aggressive wheels to make the car look You may even be able to pick some wheels up in the Black Market. CLICK the OFF TOPIC section, scroll down and find "PRIVATE SALES & TRADES."

Also start saving for the tranny replacement because since you have a 2G your tranny is bond to fail.

Look into some LEDs for the interior and exterior to make the car look mean at night.

GL modding!

For lowering springs H&R Sport #50103 is a favorite around here. They give a nice drop without being too low for daily driving. If you go too low your wheels could rub and there could be camber problems.

You should also consider changing the shocks too. Your stock ones aren't meant to handle lowering springs and they'll wear out much quicker. Some examples are Tokico HP, Tokico Illumina, Neuspeed SP3, Koni Yellow. Might as well install them too while the springs are getting done.

Or you could get coilovers which are like a spring+shock combo. Theyre adjustable and in the long run r a better investment than springs and shocks I think.

Some here have done a 6 Speed Manual swap
That's the one I would do.

yo man welcome to forum, i myself have h&r springs on oem springs, and the ride is great, i live in nj and the roads suck, i have done some mods to my car, u seem to have a nice canvas to work with, also the tranny problem most say has been solved in the later model tl's due to so many having the prob, that honda of america had installed some sort of jet to help in cooler in the 2nd gear solenoid, which if any of you remember in the many acura tl/cl and honda odyssey, and accord trannys would suddenly drop into second gear without notice and cause some serious problems. however 03vtectl proper maintainence of the tranny and a possible install of a tranny cooler, should and will help that tranny last for quite some time, do a tranny fluid change every third oil change or every 15k miles with fresh acura atf, never to a power flush or purge from a tranny shop due to it putting unnecessary stress on the already fragile internals of the tranny.

hope this helps and please dont hesitate to ask for help, have fun and happy modding

register with acura care 1-800-382-2238x5 and ask if any open recalls or extended warranties you need to know about- there are a few
If your 03 is part of the timing belt pulley recall and still needs to be done- thats a major score for you- pay for the water pump and you save a grand!

Dont come here saying how well your trans is doing- the aziner curse its called~

Have a read down the main thread list for most things you need to know

congrats dude! and welcome!

how many miles you have on your tl right now? and don't worry about the tranny right now. Just do the normal fluid changes and you should be good.

always check the fluid level, color and smell! yours is a 5 speed and they are prone to failing in a few thousand miles, just so you know.

also if you look to buy the oem 3rd generation wheels. can i have those type-s wheels if you sale them? lol
