Question New TL Owner

I am new to this forum and I have two questions...Why do new brakes squeak (mines squeak from time to time and I find it to be very annoying). Secondly, I have a '97 TL and I want to buy new tires and wheels. What would be a good size tire? Would a 17" tire be too big? How will it affect the suspension?

Welcome!

BTW, new brakes shouldn't be squeaking so go back to the shop and have them take a look at it again.

About the rims/tires, go to the gallery and check out all the rides with them. There are also a lot of posts on it.

Cool

225/40 18 Is a good size tire for that car. Just make sure the wheel has the same offset as your car..

Your brakes shouldn't be squeeking. The brakes have a device in them that makes them squeek REAAAALLLYYYY loud when it's time to have your brake pads replaced. This may be what you're hearing. If not then someone didn't install the current set properly (most likely).

Exclamation

It could be that or a common case of brake dust....

Break noise once in a while is normal I think. Does it happen in the morning only? Does it happen when you press lightly or hard? Maybe disk rotor rust from moisture? Or maybe your break pads are loose and vibrating. Try some anti squeaking stuff on it. Or maybe you just need to wear it down a little more.

And welcome to the site.

There is no specific time of day that it happens. Some days that don't squeak at all and other days they do.

If the brakes are just making a squeak when you first start off in the mourning thats fine.If they squeak maybe a few times after you apply them for the frst time could be dust or moisture. If they squeak after that at normal driving something is not correct.
Welcome to this forum girldiva00: nice to have someone else from the area on here.

Welcome =D to the board

take it to a shop and just let them have a look at your breaks.. maybe the break sensors or off alligned..

17 should be good.. it won't be too big.. 17's shouldn't effect your ride that much.. it also depends on what size tires you get.
