new sound - must be from the heater core by the glove box
As the title states...I have been hearing this noise for a few months now. It sounds like a ping pong ball is in a plastic cup and bouncing around (sorry best I could do). or some sort of pressure release valve is engaging.
I have pinpointed the sound to the glovebox area and I now Know it only happens when the engine coolent is circulating - so when the engine is warming up and anytime after when the fan turns on and the coolent flows.
any idea what it could be? I can only figure there is something in the heater core that must be making this noise, because that is the only thing that I know of down there that has coolent in it.

i wonder if it could be the blend door flapping shut on it's own. i'm looking at the diagram online and i don't see too much it could be. maybe the blend door motor is releasing intermittently and causing the door to flop shut. or maybe you have something caught in the blower motor. if it happens as soon as you turn the car on i would think to rule out coolant-related pipes because there isn't enough water pressure at startup to get adequate flow in the heater core. i think it's more a mechanical thing.
does it happen with the climate control off? (probably a dumb question)
anyone else have an idea?

ya it happens with the fan off also - that is what made me think it was something to do with the coolent. It doesnt do it right when I turn the car on, only after a minute or so when the coolent starts to circulate.
Ive heard the noise with and without the AC on, with or without the fan or heater on also...
