New SilverStar Pics

Pics can be seen on my homepage below. More than a close enough match for me.

Hey, I like the idea of the fogs having a similar light look as the headlights. Other than that, what purpose do they serve?

I swapped the bulbs mainly for cosmetic reasons (which I assume is the same reason most people on this board do). Sylvania claims the bulbs are brighter with more light output as well. Being that they're fog lights and not headlights, I'm not sure that the difference in light output is measurable.

Thanks for the info. Cosmetic reasons alone I would want them. Was just curious if they served any other purpose. Where can one get them?

Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone are the only stores carrying them right now (according to Sylvania). They just came out this week and a lot of stores have yet to put them on the shelves. Call around and I'm sure you'll find somewhere that has them. The fog light size is 9006ST.

Also, the color seems to match better after the bulbs warm up a bit.

Well I'm not gonna take them back off the car just to take a picture. They were $26 each (I think) at Advance Auto Parts.

Do you have Auto Zone? According to the Sylvania rep, Advance Auto and Auto Zone are the only 2 stores carrying them right now. If you have Auto Zone, they should be hitting the shelves any day. If not, you may want to give Sylvania a call (1-800-347-3420).

If all else fails, I suppose I could pick some up and send them to you.

I have PIAA Superwhites. They're not as white as Silverstars but still a good match for the HIDs.

Changing the fogs to match the HIDs turns them into driving lights for me. If there's very inclement weather coming, I'd think of switching to much yellower halogens for better visibility.

That's a nice offer, bro - thanks! Let me see if I can track down an Auto Zone around here - I've heard the name, so I'm sure they're around. I'll call Sylvania as well - thanks for the #.

I've been wanting to improve the color of the fogs, but didn't want to spend a ton on an aesthetic mod. These seem like they do the trick at a much lower cost.

I'll see what I can find out before I take you up on the generous offer. But thanks for offering to help a TL 'brotha' out!

I'm with you on that. I think I've decided on getting yellow fogs instead of hyperwhites.

That's a great question. I guess we're gonna have to wait for someone with CATZ bulbs to try the new SilverStars. Anyone done this yet?

The silverstars look good in the picture. For me the decision between the two (Catz and Slyvania's) would come down to price. Since the sylvania's weren't out when I made my swap I never had a chance to consider them.

Yeah, same here.... once the HIDs are warmed up the CATZ pretty much match it perfectly, so I'm happy. I would have liked to pay $26 for bulbs over $58, but at the time, $58 was cheap (vs. PIAA)..... well, if they ever blow I'll go with the Silvania, otherwise, I'm happy with the Catz!!

Hey Juniorbean, I think he meant they were $26 per bulb so the prices are almost identical.

I thought about purchasing yellow bulbs for the fogs too but decided that I did not want different colors for the headlights, fogs, and clearance lights. From what I can tell from the picture, the silverstars seems to be a very close match and very bright. Also, I have done the fog light mod where they come on with the clearance lights and it would be very cool using the fogs for headlights at night. I have seem someone driving around like this and it looks awesome.
