New Oem Oil Filter???

has anyone purchased the new honda/acura oem oil fitler for our cars recently?

not only is it visibly smaller but its made by FRAM!!! is honda smoking crack or what? even my brother's mitsubishi eclipse oil filter is made by denso and is of very good quality. i don't even think our old filters were doing a great job past 4,000 miles and now they want us to use this little tiny thing??

when i went to return the filters the dealers parts manager told me the new ones create higher oil pressure, in other words less wear on the engine at startup. all i was thinking is, that doesn't mean diddly when the thing is not filtering crap past 2,500 miles.

i just bought 2 mobil 1 filters for 24 bucks and since i've been using mobil 1 synthetic for a while will be changing the oil every 5k.

what do you guys think?

I've posted that the OEMs in america and canada where just overpriced Frams many times. Frams suck, they use cardboard as preasure plate instead of steel like every other manufacturer.

Could you give a little more info on why you said it was made by FRAM ? Does it say on the filter that it was made my FRAM ? Just curious.

Cheers !!!

Yes it does. It clearly states "Manufatured by Fram"

I'll probably go Mobil 1 filters next time.

Weren't the OEM filters made by some other company before...something ??-tech?

Are you sure they gave you the right one? All of the honda/acura use the same filters...the smaller filters are made for the civics and rsx, the largers ones are for our cars. Smaller one does give you higher oil pressure, "so VTEC doensn't fluctuate under heavy load"
