You mean to tell me that after buying the car 2 months ago I need to buy a new DVD to tell me how to get from Point A to Point B?
I find the current disk to be pretty comprehensive, a few missing roads here and there, but I generally can find my way...anyway point is, does anyone think it is really worth it?

I will welcome a DVD upgrade that has updated maps for my area...
Perhaps we can get some Beta testers to volunteer to see if the update is worth it for the rest of us. We can provide towns & roads and the testers can enter them to see if the upgrade recognizes them?

I emailed them (Acura's navi site) a few weeks ago. Here's the official response they gave me.

Dear ________:
Thank you for contacting Acura Client Services regarding the Navigation
System's DVD upgrade for your Acura.
Each fall, a Navigation System DVD update disk is available for purchase.
This disk contains updated mapping and Points of Interest (POI) data. The
latest version for 2000-03 CL, TL, RL and 2001-02 MDX is Version 2.05
released September 2001. If you have the 2003 MDX, 2004 RL or TSX with
voice activation, the system contains the latest software.
Unfortunately, there has been a delay in the upcoming Navigation DVD for
the 2000-03 CL, TL, RL and 2001-02 MDX. The scheduled release date is Fall
2003. You may want to check back at www.acura.com during this time or
contact the Navigation DVD order line at (888) 549-3798 for further update
information.
You can contact our Acura Client Services phone group at (800) 382-2238 if
you need further assistance. For your information, we are open Monday
through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Pacific Standard Time.
We understand that this matter may not have concluded to your satisfaction
and regret any disappointment this response may have caused. Thank you

I am all for copies of the DVD, I just wonder if there is any copywrite protection on them. I am going to test it out on my current disk this week.

I'll pay shipping/handling/parts to anyone who can make a copy of 2.05 or later for me to test in my car
I am currently on s/w version 2.04, database version ADB0720.
Thanks!
P.S. I have a CD-RW, but I assume I would need a DVD-RW to make a backup nav disc?

I have an MDX and TL-S, both with Navi so I'm in to Acura for about $4K. It's absolute bull**** the way they handle keeping the databases updated. I'm trading in the MDX for a Volvo V70R with Navi. Volvo doesn't even try to get in the middle of the database maintenance. Right before delivery of a Navi equipped car, the Volvo dealer sends in an authorization for Navtech to ship out the latest DVD to either the dealer or directly to the customer. It's smart because you're guaranteed to get the newest DVD when you buy the car. You're also automatically notified whenever Navtech issues a new release (which is about twice a year) and you can purchase it directly from Navtech. While they build good cars, Acura can sure wear you out with the little things and their after sale support.
