Yes!!! I got mine too! HEHEHE... Loved it! Added more luxury feeling into the interior...like bro's A4 Quattro.

Yeah, you can pop it off with a negative screwdriver.

Where did you get it? Do they make them for 5 spds? It definitely looks sweet! Probably one of the easiest mods you can do that gives such dramatic results.

Then a Phillips screwdriver is considered a "positive" screwdriver?

C'mon man, it's not that difficult.

Soak the plate in paint remover for about 10 minutes. Gently scrape away the gray paint that covers the juicy chrome center.

Binh... I used Paint Remover...5-6 coats....I believe acnup00tl used 1-3 coat remover...(paint remover comes in strengths..) It will remove either 1-2, 3-4 or 5-6....It's the strength. It really took me about 10 minutes....The coating came right off.. Just rinsed it in warm water....and wala Chrome Shift Plate......

Has anyone tried to do it with the 00-02????

A few seem to still not know that you can't do it on 00+...although it's been posted no less than 10 times . I suggest against trying it when there's no chrome underneath.

Yeah they still sell it with chrome underneath. I sold mine to inspire and I had already bought my replacement at the dealer . Its a 63.00 part and you cant buy it by itself.

Has anyone messed this up bad yet? Is that even possible. It scares me when you are talking about the replacment price. Also, does this still look good with the tan interior?

I sure I cant use like turpenine can I? Also I just went out in the garage and I could not figure out hot to get the chrome piece off. I did get the black trim around it off. Im just afraid to put a little "elbow greese" into it. Is that all it needs to come off? It looked like it was locked onto some black tabs on the sides. If I do need to buy Remover, what kind should I get, im sure there is all different kinds like for oil based or whatever?

Factory painted it dull for a reason.....so that during the day the sun shines on it, it won't reflect and blind the crap out of you..
