i need everyone to first take a look at this pic.... FROM 03TLSFAN... I HOPE ur not upset that i used ur pic...




NOw.. u see how the red needle for his type S TL stops in the center since the TLS ones have the center painted black?...

now my idea is to paint the needle black all the way to the edge, leaving only about an inch visible. I hope u guys can visualize this. so basically the needle is near where the top numbers are.

now.. personally i'm plannin to cover up the center with something else.. perhaps a circular display of some sorta that can display information (lcd?) or just anything that will cover the center portion which will be painted black anyways .... this should make the gauges look very similar to the benz speedo.

so wat u have is.. a display in the middle of ur gauge, while the order portion will show the speedo needle pointin at the speed ur going at. (yes, u will scarfice the inner numbers... for for u americans, its the kilometers and for us canadians, its the miles, big deal..)

k i'm DEFINETELY gonna do a photochop of this idea and post it when i get home. just thought of it while lookin at 03TLSFANs pic since his red needles standed out.

the blue will be a small screen or a sexy looking cover.. maybe an acura sign.. who knows... but u guys get the idea.

I know what you are trying to say and I think it would look ok. I think the Benz's have the needle actually behind the guage, so it may look kinda funky if you can tell the needle is black..not sure The photochops will be nice to see

well the thing is... if u paint it black... u won't see nothing (with my tinted gauges :P ) but i want to go the extra mile by puttin some sorta info thing in the middle as there are lots of stuff (displays from things, like tomtoms, radar detectors etc.) in ppl's cars nowadays that are just dangling all over the place... why not put it where u can also cover up something :P


i think this would compliment the tinted gauge mod... plus by shaving off the paint on the needle, it will make it really bright.. bright enough to be seen in the day through the tints properly as well as look great at night while the center is blacked out.

we'll see.....

my megamod is not gonna be revealed here... as a friend and I are working on it right now.... it will certainly change the way the car operates.. thats for sure... a lot of work but standby for it in the next few months :P ......

as for now.. these smaller mods can be done while the other mod is being worked on since the car is just sittin there.

actually i only have 1 car... my friend lives near me so he drops/picks me up to do the car.... he has a 03 TLS.... also mods his as well. didi mention he has a crazy f****n sound setup with a insane custom trunk... he doesn't like anyone taking pics and puttin it online since ppl might steal it so ya... but seriously.. its crazy... 2 W7s.. beautiful lookin trunk, sexy RF amps .....

but hey. atleast i can put my groceries in my trunk :P lol....

I see. My friend has an 03 TL-S as well, but with no mods although he likes mine. I like the leather on my doors better than his, I don't like the perforated look on the doors. But I would like to have his chrome Type-S wheels.

my sister has an 07 benz, and i know the gauges you are talking about... it's cool, but personally i like having the whole stick...

well it helps when someone knows what i'm talking about... but its always something i wanted since i wanted a display in the dash with additional info... even the lil display u see on capicators is enough for me lol.... considering it shows the voltage and thats something i really need especailly with all the electronics in the car :P.

but obviously i'm gonna put a lcd with more info rather then just an lcd displaying the voltage lol..

your a bigger tease then kris......oh yeah and if your gonna cover the needle up you could try and cover up all the needles in the same way....fuel,temp, rpm, and i was thinking how about some type of led behind the cover....?.......
