Hey Everyone,

I thought I'd check in since I'm new to this forum and hoping there's any members in my area (San Francisco/Bay Area) thats willing to take me for a spin in their TL Type S to compare with my car because I think I'm a victim of the infamous Transmission issue.

A week after I purchased my car (Sept 07) I noticed in between gears sometimes the car would shake like if the clutch was being released to early before shifting into gears, I have an automatic btw. Problem is the issue happens once in a while so when I took it to the dealership they stated that they noticed no issue with the transmission and that my warranty was out at 50k miles so even if they did notice the problem they stated that its beyond the warranty period. I purchased the vehicle at 79k showed them my invoice and stated that the vehicle was purchased 1 week ago, they still refused to assist.

Just by lurking thru a few threads on this board I've noticed that this issue has been addressed and that the warranty has been extended to 109k due to the recall.

Any advice is much appreciated!!!

Welcome to AZ. nice looking car. looks very clean and well kept. that color is amazing. I dont think replacing your tranny should be a problem its just the matter of convincing the dealer that it has issues. like you stated the warranty is extended to 109k. go to acura.com and register your vehicle with acura care and you'll be able to see if your car is covered, because not all of the 2003's (im assuming you have an 03) are covered.

Thanks for the tip!

I took your advice and registered my Vin with Acura Owner Link and it shows that my car is included in the recall.

I'll try calling the listed 800 number but my only concern is like you said (Proving the issue to the dealership) since it happens randomly.

I always thought that when there is a Recall on your vehicle that the problem should be fixed no questions asked since it's a known issue? In the past my prior vehicle (not an acura/honda) had a recall, I took it to the dealership told them I was informed about a recall on my car (clutch shutter) they took it in for warranty on the spot and provided a courtesy car no hassel at all.

Again thanks for your input and any additional input is much appreciated!!!

Go to a different dealer, seems these guys won't be too friendly about it. Nice looking TL, love that color.

welcome to AZ. you'll love it here. as far as your tranny, what the dealer is telling you is full of shit. take your car back to them and tell them to replace it. if you just bought it, it should still be under some kind of warranty for 90 days or something. acura also extended our warranties because of the shitty trannies we have.

Welcome to the forum ... I was expecting to see a SF rider, not a Oakland Raider .. LOL ...

Nice clean ride & once the tranny problem is taken care of, it could run forever ...

Welcome aboard the TL Modding Express. First of all your dealer is probably full of crap and second of all yes the warrant is up to 109k and I believe 7 years. Make sure your tranny is really going down to the dark side of the force before you get hit with some service charge or something at Acura.
