the engine video... is it like the Cadilla NorthStart engine that when you're cruising or something, it shuts down 3 cylinders?!

That is right. HONDA says that the J30A i- VTEC stops three cylinders on the situation that requires less power such as cruising and enables all six cylinders when more power is required.

The purpose is said to have better gas mileage without decreasing power when necessary.

The only thing US Accord about it is the exterior styling..

Everything else is like the TSX, The interior is exactly like the TSX..

It doesn't make sense because the TSX is a Accord back in Japan so How can they have the Inspire and Accord have the same interior..

I have tried to translate as many topics included in http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/inspire/ as possible.
I am happy if I could give you additional information of new INSPIRE.

Interior http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/i...ior/index.html

- Multi information display that displays various kinds of information such as average gas mileage, outside temp, CMS (Collision Migration Support System?) status etc,
- Independent climate control for driver's side and passenger one.
- Blue illumination
- Electric powered rear sun shade. Switch on console and it is folded automatically with reverse gear.

Equipments http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/i...ent/index.html

- HONDA Smart Card Key System
Having the card key in his pocket, when the driver pulls the door handle the doors open, when he leave INSPIRE more than the set distance the doors are locked and when he turns the knob the engine starts.
INSPIRE had Immobilizer also.

Specifications http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/i...ata/index.html

- Dimension (mm) : 4,805 x 1,820 x 1,455
- Wheel base (mm): 2,740
- Weight (Kg) :1,540
- Engine : J30A i-VTEC 3.0L
250PS/6,000rpm
30.2kgm /5,000rpm
Regular gasoline not premium one is required (!!)
- 5-Speed S-matic transmission
- Electric power steering.

Mechanism http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/i...ism/index.html

- i-VTEC
When less power is required such as cruising on a highway, three cylinders of one of its two banks stop valve lift.
Also, this engine requires only regular gasoline although the exhaust is ultra clean.
- 5-speed S-matic with shift hold
INSPIRE holds a gear when it is in the corner.
- Drive by wire
The amount of gas pedal kicked by the driver is also calculated by computer to control the throttle ideally.
- Comfort body tuning
Active Control Engine Mount is used as i-VTEC can stop one of its two banks.

Safety technologies http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/i...ety/index.html

- Line beam HID
New Line beam HID can lights roads more widely and further than current INSPIRE.
- ABS with EBD
EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) can control best distribution of stopping power for front wheels and rear ones.

Accessories http://www.honda.co.jp/ACCESS/automobiles/inspire/

- Kinds of genuine accessories for new INSPIRE

Navigation

- DVD Navigation with voice recognition
Driver can control navigation, audio and climate control by his voice.

It says "Like all cars in Europe and Asia, it is much better than its American counterpart" For the watered-down version, please visit your American showroom.

Same body, but that car somehow seems better than my 03 Accord EX-V6 Navi.

I like it, but it looks too much like the accord. I don't like the headlights, unless you cover the upper half. It looks like the altima. Nice interior and cool new toys, but I hope the american version comes different. If I get it, it will be the japanesse version or european version since I'm in germany.

complain all you want

looks .. looks .. looks
copy this - that, blah
bla..bla..blah

Is that all you people care about?

How about HiDS? CMS? and gazillion of new features not found even in the benz family?

Say what you want, if the new Japan Inspire is coming here, under any badge, with all features intact, it'll be on top of my to-buy list

As HONDA didn't sell TL-P in Japan I will try to compare the price of INSPIRE Type-S and new INSPIRE AVANZARE (hight end model)

I will try to compare specifications of INSPIRE Type-S and new INSPIRE AVANZARE

Price tag of INSPIRE Type-S here was 3,480,000 JPY (approx. US$29,750)
Major specification is:
- 3.2L VTEC 260PS
- 5 speed S-matic
- VSC
- Leather seats
- Front power driver seat
- 17 in rim
- DVD navigation
- 6 CD changer
- No cruise control is equipped
- Premium gasoline

Price tag of new INSPIRE AVANZARE was 3,580,000 JPY (approx. US$30,600)
Major specification is:
- 3.0L i-VTEC 250PS
- 5 speed new S-matic
- VSA (ABS+TCS+Skid control)
- Turn signal on mirrors
- Automatic light control (when you are in tunnel, the lights are lit automatically)
- HDS (a kind of intelligent cruise control)
- CMS (Collision migration ?)
- Power seat for driver and passenger
- 16 in rim
- Side curtain airbag
- 6 CD changer
- HONDA Smart key system
- Immobilizer
- Electric powered rear sun shade
- Multi information display
- Interior blue Illumination
- Regular gasoline

- Optional leather seat
- Optional DVD navigation

Anyone know why its an Accord and not a TL?[/QUOTE]

- HONDA sells Accord here in Japan.

No, I cannot see many INSPIRE/SABER here in Japan.
I think that my Saber is great, but average Japanese buyers look like to buy Toyota Mark II, Crown, Aristo or Nissan Cefiro, Skyline, Gloria.

So they basically took a better and faster car and turned it into a new design (ACCORD) and just added features..

Why would a newer model have a smaller engine, less HP, Smaller Rims...

What if the 2004 TL is just a souped up Accord! OMG I Would be pissed!

US Accord = Jap Inspired
Euro Accord = US TSX = Jap Accord

guys, this is not the next TL. Although acura will be using a lot of the inspires features, that car is an American accord with goodies. Dont you see. instead of Honda of Japan and Honda of America having to seperate cars for each continent, they will sell the american accord with goodies as the japanese Inspire and HOA will sell the Japanese accord as the us TSX. Its all about money. Acura though will be using the features from the japanese market cars along with a host of new things, but the next TL is being designed in America and probably wont see japanese shores. Look into the site more. The pics clearly show a nice accord.

What if it isn't a class of its own..

What if they make the next TL a Accord thats pimped out?

Or they cancel the TL and make a Acura TSX Type-S The next TL!

Official figures are:
- Max power : 250PS at 6000 rpm (247Hp SAE)
- Max Torque : 296Nm / 214lbs at 5000 rpm

And the engine deconnects 3 cylinders out of 6 when cruising - They call it "Variable Cylinder Management" !!!!

----------------

Didn't someone mention this new Variable Cylinder Management Before..
