New Appearance Mod

I'm working on a new appearance mod and I need a Type-S emblem. Does anyone who debadged their trunk want to be a real cool mofo and pop it in the mail for me.

Thanks,

JIM

Just messing with ya. I would send you mine, however, I myself need it. Sorry .

I am curious as to what your little mod is. If it's a secret until you're done, I understand, but you MUST take pics when you're done

I don't mind telling you, just don't jock my style!

I want to put a Type-S emblem on the front quarter panel right behind the front tires. If you look at a picture youll see a piece of molding that runs the length of the car about half way down the doors. I want to put a Type-S emblem on each side right under the molding just behind the front tires.

Do you think that would be rice?

I have the one from my trunk but need one more.

CAN ANYONE PHOTOSHOP THIS?

Thanks,
JIM

I thought of that too.. Kinda of where the old "5.0" were placed on the 80-90's Mustang (I think those were placed above the molding).

Can't wait to see them!

LOL.. I was thinking of doing the same exact thing a long time ago. I decided not too only because the reason I took my Type-S off in the first place is so it wouldn't get jacked. If I did this mod, I would then have two emblems, which is just asking for trouble, so I decided against it.

BTW... if someone else was to do this mod... they wouldn't be "jocking" your style...... this has been done by a couple of members on acl.com already. I'll have to go through some of the meet pics to see if I can find any examples, but at least 3 or 4 people have done this already....

I had a feeling you were.. but you can never tell, so I just wanted you to know that it has been done before. I will look for pics so you can get an idea of what it looks like. The problem is that on acl.com we moved to a new server/host and we did lose some archives. I'll see what I can dig up....

That actually looks pretty nice. I take back the comment about being too ricey. But I think he was planning on putting them under the molded piece.

Yeah I was really hesitant on putting them on, but since I took my emblems off the back I went for it. It's pretty subtle when you stand back and look at the car.

I was gonna do that same thing once i got my TL, but after seeing that pic i like that placement better, good job.

BTW- what do you use to adhere it to the car?

LOL....thats EXACTLY where they are on my NBP (on the short molding). I debadged the trunk (except for the A), bought another Type S emblem and put them on each side. They look good...... Im still contemplating getting rid of the "A" emblem on the trunk, having the holes filled and repainting it.......

My service guy told me yesterday when I had my spoiler put on that if I took off my TL TypeS badge it would leave a hole. Is this right? I have a 2003.

Ok i thought i had already posted this but i could be wrong and jus thinking of what i was gonna do. I went to a body Shop in Jersey that will make complete Custom Bodies, Body Kits, or jus single piece for any car and I was gonna have the New M3 fenders put on since i got a nice dent in my fender and it's gonna need to be Replaced. It was gonna be that small Chrome Oval Grill w/ the Type S where the "M" usually is. It was gonna be $500 a fender and i figured i would jus do it on my own w/ a small custom piece and either a oval cut in, or bolted on.
But since I'm losing my License for 180 for too many tickets, i'm rethinking it. And cause it's also a lease =(

JD7 - I bought the emblems from the dealer for less than $30 I think. They already have their own adhesive on them. As for the emblems I took off my trunk, I used emblem adhesive from a local auto parts store to do this......

Thats wrong, the only emblem that leaves holes is the "A".

Ahh. Thanks. I think that is the same service guy that told me that my car was not supposed to shift from 1st to 2nd while in SS mode.

No.. i highly suggest you dont do that to a TL. Our TLs' are too classy for those M3 fenders.. and your not even looking at the fact that your car is leased. Why would you even play around with body? IMHO that would look hoooorrribblleee unless you have some other custom body mods with some crazy looking rims. MAYBE just maybe you might be able to pull it off.. BUT i really hate those m3 and z3 fenders on any other car besides the beemers. dont make our TL-S get a name that is labeled under rice.. we aren't civics. tegs. or ludes. sorry if i offended you.. but that is just my 2 cents.

ok first of all maybe you don't know what the new M3 fenders look like. They're NOTHING like the Z3 fenders, and i agree, Z3 fenders on anything but a BMW are ricey. But the M3 section is maybe 2-3"High and 6-8"Long. Not big or tacky looking. and w/ chromes it would accent it very nicely.

hmm maybe im thinking of the M coupe. does the M coupe roadster and the m3 have the same looking fenders? i don't know.. maybe it'll look nice with some chrome rims. i just have to see for myself. maybe it will look nice and thatd be a new thing for the TL's .. =P never know.
