Arrow New Altima is pretty fast!

I was minding my own business, driving home on the highway (in the fast lane of course) doing 75 or so, when this car comes swooping up behind me and flashes its lights.

I was not in the mood for "road play", so I passed the clump of cars I was passing and moved over. I saw it was a silver Altima, a new one. He was all pissed that I did not instantly move out of his way. EXCUSE ME!

Off he went, burning up the fast lane. He got stuck behind others up ahead, and I caught back up to him, still plodding along at 75.

He was shaking his fist at the dude he was stuck behind, and the guy finally pulled over. It was at this point that the highway comes to a long incline, fairly steep, that goes on for a mile or so.

I said "Fark it", pulled up next to his accellerating @ss and floored it.

Bye Bye Altima!!!

At the top of the hill, I went back to 75 and he went flying by me going downhill.

I am sure that he was quite pleased with himself, that he could pass me going DOWNHILL, but not up!!!

Just thought you guys would get a kick out of that.

Road Games, what fun!

Actually the new Altima 3.5 SE is pretty quick. Test drove that car just for the hell of it before i got my TL-S. I asked the sales dude if i could floor it from a stop and he said "Go for it" so i did. I was pretty impressed by the power. Ofcourse, i already knew what kind of power the TL-S had but at that point i was used to driving a civic so anything with a V6 was like ":wow: " Can you believe that when those cars first came out a dealer in my area wanted 30K for that car. And it wasnt even fully equipped!!

IMHO, the thing ass-end of the car is just as ugly at 110 as it is at a standstill.

Thats because at that speed, that is all you will see (j/p) I don't know why you guys even compare the Alty to yours. The 5 speed Altima is faster than a TLS but I'd still rather have a TLS. Nissan dropped the ball on the Alty interior.

this is a kill???

i've encountered many drivers like those on the road...few happen to be tl's as well..but they just turned out to be drivers trying to get through traffic by high beaming people on the fast lane and not looking to race.

last year about this time a guy in a brand new vette started highbeaming/tailgating us but there was a solid line of traffic in the RT lane and we were going 80mph on an interstate. what were we supposed to do, we were in a geo storm! jacka**.

my friend gives him the ol' "get off my ass" brake check so then he tries to get us to pull off at the next exit. we get behind him, acting like we we're game and at the last minute deek back onto the freeway leaving him staring in disbelief as he heads for a stop sign and we roll on.

about 10 miles later here he comes again. flippin' pissed off i tell ya. he's up next to us yelling and cursing etc, with both hands off the wheel! we are laughing our a**es off but slowing down just the same cause this guy is a friggin maniac. i was sure he was going to pull out a gun or something. we are in the RT lane at this point and this guy not paying attention ends up behind us cause of a car in the LT lane.

well now he loses it and attempts to pass us on the shoulder. he stops next to us long enough to give us another verbal assault. my friend slowly drifts back into the LT lane and dude slides RT! hops a little "curb" thats on the side of the freeway and rips his whole exhaust off!!! i thought he was going off the edge but he ended up stopped out of his car, on his cellphone, flipping us off as we rolled on.

just thought i'd share.

I saw a guy in his new Altima get pulled over when I was messing with him.... He he he, it was a new white one and I don't know if it was auto or clutch, but it was a 3.5se. Anyway were doing 80mph and traffice came up I went into the furthest left lane and was passing cars, while he was passing cars on the right shoulder. Well right after I passed this mini van, I noticed in front of him was a cop. Well I quickley let off and just watched the altima play catch up and he cut off the cop after cutting people off on the right shoulder. Well the cop flipped on his light and I was laughing.... funny sh!t. Wife was mad at me though....

it gets really funny when those idiots floor is so hard on the fast lane only to found the traffic ahead and brake so hard, while i continue to go smoothly on their right and pass them. some people only think that they got a fast car with a lot of hp and torque and they win. yeah that's the case if they go to the track, but on city streets and highway, they don't stand a chance. imho driving fast on streets and highway is a combo of car performance and driver skills. you can floor all you want and end up seeing the freeway divider ahead...

and know what? you never got to see these people at autocross coz' they keep the workers busy putting the cones back

Actually, it's a lot slower. 0-60 is 7.3 for the auto... The 4-speed tranny doesn't help much for acceleration.

Check out this review from edmunds:

I never complained about a speeding ticket. I just complain about ppls taking the fast lane but going the same speed as the guy next to him or her and I don't feel like changing five lanes

Oblio was it the 2.5 or 3.5 you never said, most likely a 2.5 judging by the way this sounds. Iwouldnt say that the 7.3 sec is in stone for the 3.5, the auto has only been tested once or so so those times may improve. I remember some organizations got the TLS to 60 in 7.1 or so so in the beginning!

Agreed... But edmunds also reviewed the 5-speed and got a 6.3 0-60 time (a full second faster).

(By the way, edmunds review for the TL-S showed a reasonable 6.6 for 0-60)

We'll have to wait for more reviews to confirm the times...

I'm not sure if it was a 2.5 or a 3.5. It was new, as the rear end was definately different than the old. It also looked more the size of a Maxima than the older Altima. Whatever it was, it was fast. However, he could not match my accelleration going up the long hill. Maybe due to my headers, maybe because he was a 2.5.

I don't consider this a kill. I was not intending to race him anyway, just to irritate him a little.

As I said, he was running really fast, faster than I cared to travel at that time. (75 was enough for me).

The traffic ahead of him just slowed him down.
