I am still getting "tuned-in" to my new 2002 Type-S. There is a electric motor noise each time I first start moving in the car. This short growl starts about 5-10 seconds after I am in gear (Drive or Reverse - does not matter). I have to be moving to hear it. It growls then a few seconds later it growls one more time. I never hear it again until the next time I start up for another great trip. I have called the dealer. They have not heard of this one. I am scheduled to go back for the spoiler and will try some other TL's to check this out.

Anybody have a guess?

 

Everybody is concerned with this noise when we first got our cars, it is normal. It's an ABS self check.

 

Mike is correct, it's the ABS self test. I can't believe the dealer is unable to diagnose.

 

ABS. Good. I can live with that. I wish Honda allowed us to look up TSB's on AllData. Thanks, great forum. Great Site. I will re-affirm dealer's / service lack of understanding on this topic when I return to the dealer.

Well, back to work to help pay for my TL.

Seems a little odd, but at least we know what it's for. Do some people just not notice it, or pass it off as normal, or know what it is to begin with?
