Never noticed before...

Today, a couple of minutes after I shut my car off after a 25 minute drive, i went back out to get something out of it, and i noticed a noise...and it seemed like it was the fan still running. is this normal? how long should it run for? i've had the car 7 months and ever noticed it before.

I've never heard the fan on my '02 run while the car was off. As you in a very hot part of the country? How was your temp gauge when you were driving?

it wasn't aprticularly hot here, maybe 78 today...i didn't notice the temp gague at all while i was driving, however in the entire time i've had the car (and i've driven in 100 degree weather for a lot longer than 25 minutes), i've never seen it anywhere above half-way.

I live in Phoenix and the fan on my 99 is on constantly, sometimes for 10 minutes after I shut it off. Probably no big deal.

The fan is on its own thermostat and will run at any time, even with the car off. That's why they have so many warnings about keeping your hands away from the fan. Absolutely normal.

Its normal, its done that on my mom's Accord, my Dad's and his TL. My TL does the same. My '96 Civic and '88 Accords never ever did this though. Possibly because of a smaller engine displacement?

My 99 has never done that, not even after a 300 mile, 90mph trip through the desert with temps of 105 to 115 degrees out there... As a side note, my temp gauge has never gone over half the gauge either.

110 is not that hot to the engine, stop and go city traffic will make it a lot hotter than your highway run since you at least have a lot of airflow (hence no need for the FAN)
