Need your opinion!

I have a 99 TL, SSM, factory spoiler and navi. I was thinking of putting on the 02 tails, and body kit, with TL-S wheels. Does anyone think my car will look like a wannabe TL-S? Anyone have any nice pics of a SSM, with factory kit, spoiler and TL-S wheels? I really don't want people to think it's a TL-S, because it's not. Opinions?

Lots of people have done that on this board. I think it will look great. I have the Type S tails and I love em.

Do what makes you happy. Screw the haters.

BTW, for what you're gonna pay for the Type S wheels, you could spend a little more and get aftermarket wheels.

Definitely go with aftermarket wheels. The TypeS wheels on this site are around $225, so spend a little more and get some more unique looking ones.

Well, I was looking for a used set. I havent really seen anything that im wild over. I like the Mille miglia evo5, but I really need to see them in person. When is the next meet in either Jersey or New York? By then, I will hopefully have my kit and tails. I spoke Tim @ honda********** today, probably gonna order the kit tomorrow. I can't wait, I think it makes the TL look so much hotter. Any opinions on rims guys? Nothing too ricey! One other question! I know I have to remove the factory mudguards to install the kit, but has anyone had any scratches underneath after taking them off?

I was thinking about getting the type-s wheels also because I don't wanna stand out too much, but I decided that if I am going to spend that much money I should just go aftermarket. If you want the type-s wheels screw what other people say.

ive considered going for the Type S rims... doesnt make you a poser unless u put the typer S badge on the back and do changes to fool pple into thinking that ure drivin a Type S... the stock rims are better than the TL-P but id agree with JT and recommend going with aftermarket stuff... they look hotter... just make sure u dont offset the speedometer by getting something that will mess it up... ask the person who u talk to u if it will do that

Go for aftermarket rims!

Check the "meets" forum for any upcoming meets.

The only thing that will make you look like a ricer is if you have the type-S badge on a regular TL. I have a black 99 TL and I have the Inspire tails (same as 02) and it looks great. The majority of 99-01 owners have switched the tails.

How long have the mud guards been on the car? If it has been on there for a while, then it might have eaten thru the paint (it happened to a few members). If you plan on putting on the bodykit, then take them off ASAP and clean the area before installing the bodykit!!!

I believe they have been on there since 99. I am going to take them off tonight and see what it looks like under there. I would never put the type s badge on the car, you are definately right, thats ricey!

Putting some of TLS parts doesn't mean you want to be Type-S.

Just like Binh said,
If you're not going to put Type-S badge on the back, I am sure nobody will & :yack:

Yea i agree.... I personally HATE the stock TL-P rims. Just my opinion, but everytime i see a TL-P i think to myself how much better the car would look with a TL-S rim or even any other 17-18" rims..

I dont think you will be a wannabe for putting TL-S lights and tails. If thats what you like do it, but if your gonna spend 800-1000 on TL-S rims I would go aftermarket.

str8, I definately wouldnt buy all 4 from the dealer. I wold spend a few bucks and buy a set someone has around, thats the reason why i want them. because i wold spend no where near as much on a set of used tls wheels, then i would on aftermarkets with tires, etc. Where did your bro get them for 250? Does the guy have anymore? I have cash!

Get what you want!

I have a 2003 TLP with Type-S rims, I purchased the rims and tires (with less than 1000 miles) for $700. My car looks great!!

I'm not trying to pose, and at age 42 I'm beyond rolling on Dubs. There is a picture of my car somewhere on this web site, by the way, I have a rear spoiler too.

Get what you want, on your car, there is always people hating up in here. I would rather ask a zoo monkey his opinion then some of the buffoons on this site (i.e. Yaron2).

Think about it, the TL and Type-S are bascially the same car (same frame, same fenders, same tranmission, both V6 3.2 VTECH's, they even look exactly the same.

The Type-S is equipped with a few performance enhancements, more hp and better handeling. But by no means is the Type-S a right of passage.

Keep it tight!
