Arrow need spark plugs for 02 tl-s

im in need of some new spark plugs for my 02 tl-s. ive searched and found mixed info regarding ngk ik16's vs. ik20's (i think those are the part #'s). well i have intake, headers, and some other mods. Would it be better to go with the colder ik20's or no?

also what were the part #s for the denso iridiums? thanks guys!

IK16 and IK20 are Denso part numbers. Stock is the IK16, and the IK20 is the colder plug.

For NGK part numbers, the part # is ZFR5FIX-11 (TL-S application) or BKR6EIX-11 (NSX application/colder plug). I think the 4th digit is the heat range.

I'm running ZFR5FIX-11. I think either plug would be fine - even on a TL-S with mods.

The part numbers are in the owners manual.

NGK's are installed at the factory and the P/N on my 2002 TL type S are PZFR6E-11. These are platinum tipped. The Iridiums have a 6 in the p/n as well (I believe I got that from the NGK site)

I dont know what these other p/n's you speak of are, probably the iridiums but for the -p's. There is a difference between tl-p and -s, but have heard of folks using either-or and being ok. The difference in the plugs is a difference in heat dissipation. Reach, thread, etc are the same.

I've got pics of my plug change but have been too la - I mean busy - to post them.

So which plugs work best for a TL-P? I understand they both can be used but is there any difference when using the lower heat vs. higher heat versions?

The same (ZFR5FIX-11). Only on a TL-S with mods would you consider going one heat range colder. Even then it's optonal.

Ok - end all.

According to page 242 of the TL owners manual:

Premium Model
NGK: PZFR5F-11
DENSO: PKJ16CR-L11
spark plug gap: .04 in (1.1mm)

Type S
NGK: PZFR6E-11
DENSO: PKJ20CR-M11
spark plug gap 0.04in (1.1mm)

I know the PZFR6E-11 is a "cool" plug since it dissipates heat to the head more so than the PZFR5F-11. PZFR6E-11 were installed on my TL-s at the factory. No mods.
I think you can use both plugs and be just fine. They cost about the same anyway. You might have a better time finding the '5F-11's in stock at autostores since I think they are used in other Honda V6 engines (not sure tho).

Awesome SPL1011, and thanks. Someone actually went to the manual! DoH I wish I had thought of that! Now, to throw a monkey wrench here, is the
NGK PZFR5F-11 the same as the NGK ZFR5FIX-11?? Aside from a "P" in front of the OEM listing, and a "IX" at the end of the other NGK part number, does anyone know if these are the same?

by "premium" you mean platinum. The "...FIX-11" are the iridiums. "PZFR..." are the platinum tipped.

Which is preferred, the platinum or iridium, and why?

Well, I had 68k on my stock platinums when I changed them they looked really good. Clean, no pitting or noticeable electrode wear. Gaps were still a tight .040".
Iridiums are supposed to have better resistance to wear (4 times harder than platinum). They also tend to cost more. Don't look for a power improvement between NGK plats' or iridiums - you wont find one.
I guess it comes down to personal preference. For me, there was no value added and the money I saved paid for the anti-sieze stuff. I stuck with platinums. In my professional opinion, there really is no difference in our cars.
