Hi im pretty new here. My car got rear-ended today. The bumper is smashed. and the left tail lights caved in. The left side of the car was dented in because of teh impact. What should I do now??? Can the shop fix the dent on the side or does it have to be replaced??? by the way the trunk is pretty torn up. I think it has to be replaced. Do any of you maybe know the prices of a stock rear bumper or something. My friend tells me to ask the shop if they can replace the stock acura bumper with an aftermarket kit of some kind. ??? any of you guys have an idea?

Sorry to hear about the accident. It sounds like your car's rear-end is pretty messed up. When you pick up your car from the shop after the fix, you may want to make sure that the trunk cover lines up properly with both sides of the body horizontally. That is, the trunk cover is not higher or lower than the body on either side. My sister-in-law's car was rear-ended a while back and the trunk didn't align right after the fix. Guess what, her trunk was filled with water after a big rain. That's when her found out that the trunk cover was higher on one side.

 

it sounded like you got hit pretty badly. the exterior damages you memtioned are quite easy to fix, but there is probably severe damage to the frame which will be costly to repair and they may not be able to get back to the original spec. make sure you have a reputable body shop check your frame.

I would not really worry about it too much...I mean who ever hit you is at fault arenn't they, i mean they are here in MN no matter what...I mean i have been rear ended three times in the last year and i just get an estimate from the best shop in town and then they send the estimate to the other persons insurance and then their agent cuts me a check for the damages and that is that...

Why don't you get it assessed by the insurance co?

 

Yeah, I got an estimate from my friend at M2 collisions and Milpitas Autobody. It was between 5-8k to get it repaired. The other guy was responsible so his dad's company's insurance pays for the damages, since the other car was a company car. By the way, the left tail light housing cracked, and I requested that it be replace with the Inspire lights instead, all I need now is to give him Snooks ordering info. Does he have an ordering number for some fast delivery or something??? thanks

well i took it to m2 because the guy there was pretty cool about everything. and plus i've taken my integra there before. im not worried about the price, the other guys ins is paying just as long as they bring my baby back

Oh by the way, can you get M2 to claim your mufflers are f*cked up too? If so, ge the Comptechs...just a thought. When I got rear ended, I took it my friend's body shop and he ganked the insurance company and I got a body kit out of it too! The rest I had to pay with my own money
