Need to remove side mirrors

I need to remove the side mirrors (not the whole assembly) but just the mirrors themself. I have done this one other cars (Passat) and the mirror just pops out since it held in by clips. Is it the same thing with the TL, I'm just worried because its heated, so I'm sure there is a wire behind it. Before anyone ask why I need to do this. Its so I can tint it and see if any other modify can be done to it.

Yup, there is a wire attached to the mirror for the heated pad. There are three actuator shafts that attach to the mirror that allow it to swivel.

You'll have to pull it straight out as best you can. They actuator shafts will just pop off the mirror. They are a bit of a b!tch to get back on.

If the Tl has memory seats make sure you snap it in right or else the mirror will not drop in reverse or return to its memory 1 or 2 position. there are a total of 5 pins that need to snap in. the center is for the pivot. the inner two are for the movement and the outer two are so the memory computer knows where the mirror is. You can get the actuator seperate should you break it. Mirror glass is avaliable sepaerate and only costs about 30 bucks. You may just wanna pick one up and check it out that way. I have seen a lot of guys crack the mirror glass trying to snap it in. I usually take a drill bit and open up the pivot seats a LITTLE. Too much and it wont stay. Just right..and it snaps right in with not as much force as you would need without opening up the holes a little.
