Need OEM Brake Rotor Info, Wayne Jens?

Are the 2002 TL-S rotors the same as the 2001 TL? Also, does anybody know the Acura OEM part number for the front rotors of the 2002 TL-S?

Thanks guys, and mods, I know this is double posted but I need the info fast and this way it'll get more hits, thanks.

Why do you need this info. Are you having problems with your brakes. I just got new brakes and resurfaced my rotor under warrenty on my 2002 TL-S. My steering wheel started to shake when I apply the brakes. This is a common problems on TL's.

No, I needed the number for 'other' reasons. Can't really post why, don't want to break the rules on this board

If you really want to know, PM me.

That's a good question. I know one of the revisions on the 2002's have "Improved Brake FEEL" as one of the improvements. I always knew Japanese cars can't compare to it's German counterparts when it comes to their brakes, so I always take into consideration when using my brakes and take it easy on them and avoid repeated heavy use.

That being said, I always thought when reading the posts about brakes and their inherent ease of warping, that it might be avoidable if I take it easy. Ha! Someone must have been slipping some funny medicine in my drink cause tonight on the way home, I came across a GS400 and a ancestor of ours and.......

at a light for a two-way two-lane road, I pulled up behind a GS400. I read today that a TL-S will pull on a 400 so he somehow read my mind and gunned it, I followed suit and @ first he pulled just a bit (torque) and I quickly caught up to his arse. I know I know, it's not a race, but I was just enjoying my self I guess.

After about a mile or so of GAS and braking X4, the fun ended, when the GS kept on the road while I entered the highway. Haha, looka here....a lowered 4DR Legend with a coffee can exhaust sh1tstem. I didn't see him at first but I sure heard him, he wound in front of me on the ramp and gassed it followed suit by a ridiculously loud exhaust note. I just left the GS like less then 10 seconds before so I did the usual and it wasn't even close...well you know... It was just funny cause I know he was enjoying his ("Loud-Therefore is Fast" Hyper/Type-RR/Rice Pooper Exhaust System) and along comes a Silver TL-S that just whips by. I know he didn't know I was coming up because of the way the entrance ramp is set up and all but I kept going and eventually slowed down watching him weaving through traffic to catch up. He eventually got on my ass to look at this for a few seconds;

You think he knows it's a "S"? He didn't even look at my wheels, he slowed down and mingled with traffic in the slower (right) lanes

No matter, the point of the story is, Brakes. Well I realized (after this little nonsense) when I applied the brakes, I now was blessed with my steering wheel dancing and wiggling for me Great!

Just from several stops from 60-70mph . It's not much shake but I better take it easy. Hmmmm, I'll see.

(I wish all cars came with brakes like a Porsche 911 )

Bioyuki, I have a guess on your reason, PM with it if ya don't mind. Is it the same? Let me know, thanks.

To all, Sorry it's so long, thanks for a minute or two of your time

BTW: I need the headers This current situation is in dire need of improvement!!

Naa naa, I didn't mean the exotic ceramic rotors. Just some overly engineered brakes like Porsche's have. I've never driven a Porsche with the ceramic rotors but have driven a '94 911 Turbo and a '90 C4. Man.........the brakes on those cars are what brakes are supposed to be. If I had a passenger without his/her seatbelt on and I jammed on the brakes real hard, I think they would go through the windshield (over exaggerated but you get the point)....Simply awesome and incomparable to any other. IMO and what I have driven.

We need better rotors and calipers but $2000 for the Brembo kit:wow: I was debating those for the Z too......it's alot of money. I wonder if it has makes a dramatic improvement? I know Astroboy has experienced Porsche brakes and he also has the Brembo setup in his TL-S. I'm sure it's still not even close( I'm not trying to compare these two cars fella's, it's like a summer day in Jamaica compared to a nighttime storm in Antarctica), but 911's have an inherently nice weight advantage in the rear to aid in braking, but always bit the driver in the ass hard if not driven correctly.....although as each new model came out, they were more forgiving....but still, my dad always lectured me on the cornering limits/habits in his 911's. I came real close one day to play pendulum with it one day too......phew, I'm sweating thinking about that....and that was years ago

TUFF GONG, man, you got to drive Porsche's? Damn, you are lucky. My dad's friend owns a M-B/BMW/Jag dealership down in Windsor and he gets the odd Rolls, Ferrari, and Porsche. Maybe I can convice him to let me have a test drive next time I'm down there and he happens to have one on the lot. Hopefully, though, I will own one of those magnificent cars....or 2.
