factory tiresize on the 02 tl-s was P215/50/R17
if you go to 225/55/R17 your speedometer is going to be off a little bit, because the tire is a little wider and your profile is a little bigger, therefore your total circumfrence of the 225/55/17 is: 123.75in (full rotation of the tire)

the 215/50/17 overall is: 107.50 in
so if you put those 225/55/17 tires on the car, your speedo might say 40 when youre really going 45..or vice versa, it's a little late for me to do THAT much math right now -- hope this helps!

Will I have any troubles driving on them?
My tires are bad and the guy is asking not bad price for these, I think...
They have only 2000K on them 4 for $200

its gonna lookweird...and you could have rubbing issues...i eman wider and higher profile..its not practical....you'll accelerate slower...and probably worsen your gas milage

Not sure if it will fit the wheel but a +1 size would be a 225/45R-18 but you did say you're using the factory rim I take it.

With the size you asked about, just think, there is going to be aspect ratio measuring 55% of 225mm = 123.75mm. Where as the factory tire has a ratio of 50% of 215mm=107.5mm. So the tire you're asking about will be taller overall and throw off the speedo as said already. I'm guessing that'll be about a 13% difference.

It's the same cr*ppy tires as the stock Michelins, only on a different size. You will have the same bubbling problems and inferior traction and noisy ride as the stock one (probably worse).

Save your dough for a newer and better set of tires. Can't wait to get rid of mine and jump into better ones like Dunlops or Sumitomos.

I think that is too wide of a tire for the stock wheel

I have 235s on my stock rims. The height may be your problem. width is ok.

Your sidewall is going to be .7 inches larger than stock. Also, when your speedometer is reading 60 mph you'll actually be traveling at 63 mph. I wouldn't do it man, it's going to look really odd. Try to find some stock size tires. You can get the Sumitomo HTR+ from tirerack for approx. $335 shipped to you. They will be the correct size and are excellent tires. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $135, you'll be glad that you did.
