Need help on Rims! bolt pattern size?

Hello everyone. I need some guidance on buying wheels. I would like to upgrade from my 16" OEM wheels on my 2000 TL, to the 17" type S wheels found on the 2001-2003 models. On ebay, i see different offsets and bolt patterns mentioned. I have NO idea what size my bolt pattern is. I took of wheel and didnt see it on the back. I know my offset is 55, but i see various listings on ebay for 115 or 114.3 bolt pattern. The bottom line is what kind of leeway do i have getting a 17" wheel? Which bolt pattern can i get? or can i get both? It would seem that one would fit and the othe rwouldnt. And i also see that some wheels are 17x7 and others are 17x7.5 ...will either of those work? I want to have a 205/50-17 tire, like the Type S. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Darren

TL type S rims are 17 x 6.5 with a 55 offset and a 114.3 mm bolt pattern (4.5").
CL type S rims are 17 x 7.0

You should be fine with a 17 x 6.5" up to an 8" wheel. The optimum 17" wheel would probably be a 17 x 7" - 7.5" with an offset of anything higher than a +45.

A +48 or +50 offset would be ideal. Stay away from any offset lower than +45 or you'll rubadubdub on the fenders. Any offset of +52 or higher is more of a flat "pizza pan" look with minimal lip.

Have fun.

I was going to post, but 60ssrscam just about nailed it.

But I figured what the hell, I'll post, anyway.

Yeah, it's 5x114.3 -- watch for offset. Too many people buy wheels and tires without proper knowledge on offset then come on the forums asking for help because they rub against the fenders.

Good luck and post pictures when you get 'em on the car.

By the way, the TL Type-S tires are 215/50/17. If you are planning on getting Type-S wheels, then you don't need to worry about offset or bolt pattern. It'll be a direct bolt-on.

Do the CL Type-S wheels bolt on directly too?
