Need help with compustar ss security system!!!
Ok, I have the compustar ss security system and either I have had a idiot working on the car or the system just is a waste of money. I have gotten everything on the car working now finally except the ignition controlled lock and unlock of the doors. The doors will lock when you put your foot on the brake pedal but when you turn the car off the doors will not unlock. I spoke with compustar but unfortunately they couldnt help me any further with this being they are in alaska and I am in Lubbock TX. Do any of you guys have a copy of the installation booklet with wiring diagrams that I could either take to a different dealer out here as the one i got it from is 350 miles away. Or Do you guys know how to check or bypass this. The doors will unlock and lock by themselves with the remote. But this one feature wont'. The tech at compustar suggested it could be the ignition feedback wasnt connected, but the remote start works. Suggestions Please?!?!?!
Never heard of such a thing. Most car alarms feed the lock unlock signal through the same wire whether it is after a remote start or ignition start. The signal is when your key goes inot the on position then the brain senses that and sends a lock signal to lock wire. Don't know if that helps but it probably just wasnt programed if everything else works fine. You may have to enter the programing mode and turn that feature on as described in your manual.
By no way did you waste your money when you purchased a Compustar
I think your installer must be a dumbass or something because it should work no prob. Find someone else to check the wire connections it's not the alarm it's probably a loose wire or it got grounded out...

What it is is that I have programmed it, and evidently it is the brake pedal being pushed down which locks, and it does that. However when you turn the car off, it is supposed to detect that the ignition has been turned off and unlock the doors. This is where the problem is. Anyone know of a good dealer in Lubbock other than MGM audio, these guys do more harm than good at the location I went to.
I have the Compustar SS and am thrilled with it. The doors unlock when I turn off the car and they lock when I press the brake. I think your installer screwed up ..... call Compustar and they should be able to mail you the schematics for the system. The onl complaint that I have is the range .... NO WAY NEAR 1.5 miles!!!
Mine works both ways, too. Wow, you sure had a lot of problems getting that baby working. Sounds like it's time to find a new installer.
By the way, the documentation can be found on the www.compustar.org site. It's in Adobe format so make sure you have their reader installed.
Good luck,
V.

I don't understand why someone would want all the doors to be unlocked automatically when he turns off the engine. Sure it would be the best time to invite a$$holes to climb inside your car and put a knife to your neck.
What I always do is to look around my stopped car to make sure it is safe before I unlock my door(s) and get out of my car.

Where is a safer area ?! Like heaven. There is no safe area on earth. Who would have guess that the mighty twin towers would collapse. They were designed to survive the impact of the biggest plane available at the time they were built.
It's always better to be careful than to be sorry afterwards.
