Need advice on used 2001 TL
I'm looking at buying a used 2001 TL with 186,000 miles for about $2400. The warning lights are on for Brake, ABS, SRS, maintenance required, CEL. I took it to AutoZone to pull the error codes. They got 3 codes 2 for the evaporator cannister and P1740. The last code was for a bad 4th gear presdure switch. The suggestions were low tranny fluid or replace the switch. I checked the fluid. It was low and looked dark brown, like dirty oil. They couldn't tell me anything about Brake, ABS, SRS of maintenance. From what I've read on here,
P1740 indicates the transmission will eventually fail. I don't have a lot to spend on repairs, other than simple things I can do myself.
So I'm looking for some advice on what to do. Would this be a good car to buy or should I pass? Any way to tell how much longer the transmission will last?
Thanks!

I'd take a pass; that or have the owner have the car taken care of first.

I would pass. I wouldn't be as worried about the other codes but the transmission code and more so the condition of the fluid. Doesn't sound like it's been changed as it should and these transmissions need to be taken care of.
