Ok heres the deal: I just got my Scosche dash kit (along with some other goodies, cheifly a Pioneer HU and some Infinity Components) in the mail. I've been doing my homework here and see that you can sand down and paint the dash kit to get a better match than whats already there.
I have a couple questions.
1. Like I said I have the Scosche kit, but ive read that the Metra dash kit looks best when sanded to match the dash. If i use the same sanding method given for the Metra kit will it still turn out decent?
2. While im buying sanding and painting shit, i figured id have a go at the shift gate. what should I do with this as far as color is concerned?
2a. Do you think it would look stupid if I matched the dash kit to whatever the shift gate is?
Thanks

if your gonna try and match it, you should just try and match it with the factor greyish color, i think if you paint just the dash kit it will look out of the place

Therein lies the problem, I haven't seen the Metra kit up close to know what it looks like.
But I can tell you by looking at the Scosche kit that it does have more of a "rough" finish to it. The dash is definitely smoother.

Oooooo sounds pret-ty. Do you happen to have any pics of it? For that matter, does anyone else have any pics or ideas of what to do with a dash kit? I'm leaning towards painting it now actually.
The reason is, I got the kit in the mail and was inspecting it and noticed that there is actually a very small amount of surface area on the kit, so no matter what I do it won't be as strikingly obvious that it doesn't match the rest of the dash. Plus, I'm not sure if sanding it would result in it looking like the Metra kit does sanded.
